before my exam and i haven't done my preparatory work yet ! And to
conclude, i don't know how to draw ! --'
@heerakjha You may have been too harsh on yourself. when you know how the
picture is constructed you can imagine all sorts of things that others just
don't see!
Thank you for showing me quickly and easily how to draw a three dimensional
simple diamond ring which will set me apart from other jewellers in the
future :)
@littlerudi08043 At least you do not have different standards for yourself
than for your woman. As for price, I am not sure what a diamond ring is
going for in USA but in Norway at least if you are going to have gold and
diamonds that has it's price. However like I said I have never understood
the engagement ring ting from USA. In Norway we use only the gold wedding
band and that the couple picks out together. In other parts of Europe they
use engagement rings, but they are not set with diamonds
I don't know why these engagement rings are so expensive, some girls are so
demanding, they ask for only the finest gold, and diamonds. what's wrong
with Silver? yes, silver tarnishes, but only in the presence of Ozone gas
(O3) gold w/ diamond would cost like 5,000 USD, silver w/ diamonds, perhaps
$1,500. silver is about $30/ ounce. Gold, on the other hand, is $1400/
ounce. Silver is used in just about anything you can name, gold, only
jewelry right? If so, then I highly suggest investing in AG
The whole concept of the 'engagement' ring is fucking stupid. What's the
point of presenting it? If two people want to get married, why not skip the
bullshit and just get married? This whole guy proposing with an engagement
ring makes no sense. Plus does the guy get an additional ring as well? Fuck
no! I also recently heard of something called promise rings... so that you
can be engaged to be engaged! *sigh* One ring is sufficient! If it was good
enough for Sauron, it's good enough for us too!
Don't see a problem with that. I'm VERY PARTICULAR about the type of rings
I like and I wouldn't like a ring that really doesn't excite me or that I
don't like. I don't like 6 prongs, and I don't like low set, squat heads
holding the diamond. As for the gold, don't care what color. I got yellow
gold, but I would of been happy with white gold. I don't like halos and
cluster stones and pave. I just like clean, classic rings, so that's why I
agree with JLH.She's a smart cookie in that area.
@Squicksand I agree. I don't even like the traditional, formality of it
all. A small get together for the family for sure, but I'd rather spend
money on a kickass honeymoon than a big, expensive wedding. I'm a little
old fashioned in the sense I'll open up a car door for my girl or take care
of her as I can, but if you're going to spend your life with this person
than every decision should be made as a partnership. But then again, I
guess a lot of girls enjoy the spectacle of it all.
In Norway we do not use a separate engagement ring we only have one plain
gold wedding band. However if we where to go for the American customs on
this I would not want to wear a ring I did not like every day for the rest
of my life, that is not going to happen. I think what this actress have
done is rather sensible. I would off course be happy for an engagement ring
regardless of how it looked, but if it where ugly that would be something
which out bug me and I might not wear it.
Amazingly, I am a jeweler. They say that 97% of women want a surprise
proposal. I would say that if that is true 94% of that 97% are disappointed
because the women are in the store picking out the ring with their man.
Sometimes, like with JLH, this happens BEFORE the guy has even asked her to
marry him. In general, women care about 3 things, the shape of the diamond,
the color of the metal and the mounting style. And BEN, yes, we can tell it
is a cubic cause it shines BLUEISH.
@littlerudi08043 You did not answer me, would you wear something for the
rest of your life which you think is ugly because it is a symbol of love?
This is not reading a book you do not really like because your lover gave
it to you, this is a thing which is to sit on a woman's finger for the rest
of her life. Also if it do not matter what it looks like, or if she likes
it, why spend thousands and thousands of dollars on a ring, is it so that
looks do not matter only cost?
I agree with Jennifer to a certain extent. What woman wants to rock an ugly
ass ring for the rest of her life? I understand it's a symbol of love and
commitment, but if there's a fucking reindeer on it or it's just butt ugly,
I mean come on. She should be able to wear the ring she's always wanted,
especially if it's going to be on HER finger. If he wants to pick out a
fugly ring to wear on HIS finger, whatever its his hand, but why can't she
choose what goes on her body.
@FitnessGuru1988 you are picking at the wrong woman. I agree in north
american society that women are less sensitive to a mate and less
appreciative. My guy adores me because I know I owe his as much as he does
for me. I just think the romantic idea of a suprise proposal is not a good
plan- but like I said if you don't make it clear to your man what you want
in a ring- then be happy with what you get. I asked for no ring- I wear my
grandmothers instead.
It makes her sound like a bitch just because of how she worded it, but I
actually view things like that the same way as her. I eventually started
telling my parents exactly what to get me for christmas because you can
only get so many socks before you get annoyed. If it's something important
to her that she'll be wearing for the rest of her life (or in Hollywood -
at least 6 months), it should be something she likes. So no big deal to me.
Personally, I think people focus too much on the ring, on the proposal etc.
I don't know that I want a "romantic proposal" that the guy has to go all
out, I don't want the man I marry to be an underdog, I don't want to
"serve" him. Marriage isn't just about romance, the honeymoon, the
butterflies. It's about more, it's about loyalty and commitment, and so
many people forget that for the superficial aspects. It's sad IMO.
It still surprises me that it's common custom to thrust the decision of
marriage upon a woman with a proposal so that she needs to answer in a
matter of seconds, but the man gets to consider if he wants to get married
for a good few months prior, at least. Why don't couples just sit down and
discuss together if they want to get married? no surprises or expensive
rings involved, just rational, cooperative decisions.
It's not that bad. This is how my woman and I shop for jewelry. Me: Don't
spend over $xxx.xx. Her: Okay...(leaves and comes back a few hours later).
Her: I found a beautiful xxxxxx at xxxx for $xxx.xx. Come and look at it.
Me: Nah...just take my credit card and go get it. Her: You don't love me.
Me:Okay.....(goes and looks). Here's my card. Go get it. Her: yay! he loves
me! Me: that outta shut her up for a while.
@ilikepigtails I feel the same way about all that. A little tradition and
chivalry is always nice, and I know a lot of girls have this dream of a
"fairy tale wedding" where everything's absolutely perfect, but that much
hype really doesn't seem worth it. It's those kind of picture-perfect
expectations people go into marriages with that tend to make them fail, and
it's equal, open dialogues that keep them strong.
@aquiace -shrug- The ring I want is $500. My couch costs more than that. :)
And it's not "necessary", but I do like rather unique, unconventional
jewelry, so my boy saw it not to buy that exact one, but down the road when
he's ready, he knows what I like. The most important thing is our
relationship, really. A ring is nice, and I want to like it, but it's not
the be-all, end-all of marriage.
If you marry a golddigger you are a retard. She will get ugly while she
spends your money and ends up being entitled to half if you divorce (if no
pre-nup is entered into). Better just to "rent her out". Date her and spend
some money on her here and there and when she gets ugly and nasty, ditch
her. Now, if she is a real lady and you know she really loves you for you,
then marry her.
jennifer love hewitt is nothing but a tease and asking for 3 engagement
rings is silly. she always act like miss goody two shoes but i bet she is
the biggest, selfish cock tease in hollywood. this is the reason she is
never married despite having twenty boyfriends every week. she is a
complete physco and called a serial date. i bet she can't even satisfy a
guy in bed.
@GrimmReeferX Flashy and expensive or not, is it not a point that the woman
should like what she wears. I am not to fond of diamonds as other than
tools in Chrystal healing, I want a black steel or tungsten ring that cost
allot less than gold and diamonds, but I would still want a ring I think is
pretty.
JLH has become a ridiculous joke. You know, there are some people who can't
even afford to feed their starving families, princess, let alone afford
jewelry for their crotch and afford even one cheap-ass engagement ring.
This should not be news. I wish Cenk were here to thoroughly mock this news
story.
@ArielDarkBlade69 If you want to get married sometime in the future, not
just live together and share life, you should discuss it before proposing,
don't you think? Maybe the person isn't interested in marriage at all but
loves you? I've been with several guys who thought they knew and still
didn't.
@littlerudi08043 If you think engagement rings are stupid, why have them at
all? I have never understood the point in keeping traditions that are not
appreciated just for the sake of keeping traditions. But then I have
Aspergers, it might just be me not understanding the point here.
Good heavens. I think the guy should pick what he likes and what he can
afford. What if the guy can't afford the gayass ring you "want" just to
show off to your friends. Saying look how much he spent. Who gives a fuck.
If your with the person you love...why should it even matter?
@mompm I've dated 4 guys. They all knew exactly what kind of jewellery I
liked within 2 months. Even guys I was just friends with knew the exact
kind of jewellery I liked. The only guys that don't are the ones that don't
listen and/or don't pay attention
@littlerudi08043 Not a crutch, and explanation. I am the way I am and I
have no desire to be different, but sometimes it is more easy to get people
to understand that me not following certain social customs is not ill will
against them but has a reason.
Outrageous. A proposal is supposed to be a surprise. And why does it have
to be a huge or very flashy ring? My wife has small hands, I got her just a
little 5th karat solitary (I was not exactly in the money at the time) and
she loved it.
