E46 M3 for the Street and Track | Gears and Gasoline
There are the cars that are because race car, and then there are actual track cars. This E46 M3 is the classic definition of a car that is made for the track first, and ...
7 years ago when I was shopping for it and learned about the SMG being a "flappy paddle gearbox" I got it because I thought that would be cool. It's been great for me, I'll turn 183,000 miles today with no SMG system problems. If I were to do it again though I'd choose the 6 speed manual so that as i progressed thru the driving schools and gotten my race license like i have I'd be more proficient with heel-toe. The SMG has been great on the track but not being perfect at heel-toe has certainly left co-driving friends race cars on the table.
+Mike Sharrett why did u choose the smg over the six speed? I'm in the market for one of these and I wanted a smg but I heard bad things about it so it kinda scared me away lol
+MrFJtBaller305 I definitely have lusted after some of the exhausts available. When I convert to full race car though it'll be Bimmerworld's full race back set up so I've decided to leave everything stock since I'd be turning around and getting rid of a borla/magnaflow or whatever I did now. Thanks for watching!
+Daroth Chhouk I have a dedicated track set of rotors and use old cheap rotors on the street. Spider cracks like that are normal after a few weekends on the track and aren't indicative of failure particularly in a street setting. Unless you mean the vented rotors aren't your thing, I wouldn't use those again and my track set are regular rotors.
