Starter Bullshit

changing the starter in a 1991 ford tempo in what started out to be 17 degrees that quickly fell to 10 degrees. it was cold as hell but had to be done.

@misssiberia69 dont get to frustrated its just an old hooptie. and a cable should be an easy fix. I actually had to replace both the positive and negative clamps on the cables they were so corroded. im sure the cable isnt bad its just copper. but the ends were it connects can be greasy or corroded. so clean the connections really good. for the drink -get some black velvet(or your fav whiskey) and some butterscotch snapps mix it half and half and what ya got is a werthers candy tasting shot.

Arg! The frickin negative battery cable went bad, right at the connection to the block. My boyfriend is fed up changing things on that car. Is there an alternative place I could connect a negative cable on the top of the motor? I don't think my arm will reach down thru the hoses and whatnot; totally sucks. BTW, what kind of booze are you drinking in your vid? I need a better place to hook that ground cable. Pls help. Miss S.

The job is done! The back bracket was such a pain, my BF didn't put it back in. Three huge bolts in the front; it isn't going anywhere. Your video was very helpful. BTW, he liked the booze idea, so we sipped schnapps during the install process.

@ggalbavy - take the cable off. clean all the connections really good with a wire brush and some kinda solvent. you may need to replace the ends or get a new cable what ever one is cheaper.

Thanks for the vid; my Tempo is nastier underneath than yours. Won't need WD40, everything is covered with oil. Lol!

What a dumb design. And to change the timing belt you have to remove the engine too ? They didn't think to make a hole in the wheel arch ?

These engines has no timing belt. The camshaft is driven by a chain that require less maintenance.
