Otis Redding Performs "Respect" on December 9, 1967
Otis Redding appeared on the December 9, 1967 episode of Cleveland television show Upbeat on WEWS-TV. In this clip from the appearance, he performs ...
In addition to Redding, Ronnie Caldwell (the electric organ player/ age
19), Phalon Jones (saxophonist/ age 19), Carl Cunningham (drummer/ age 17),
and Jimmie King (guitarist/ age 18) died in the December 10 plane crash as
well. A sad day for music lovers!
Why do you call this karma? Otis Redding recorded "Respect" in 1965. Aretha
Franklin did not record "Respect" until 1967. Have some respect for the
man, he was a great artist that had his career and life end way too early.

perspective. Aretha sings it with as a woman saying men need to have
respect... I'm not saying who's is better. I know who recorded it first.
"In this clip from the appearance, he performs "Respect." Tragically,
Redding died in a plane crash the following day " - Karma? Aretha Franklin
might think so...
