fraps makes the game look laggy but its very playable with resolution 1378 x 768(the one before 1440x900, the number might be wrong) and all VERY HIGH settings. natural mod, which is not in this vid pushes those settings ever further, makes teh game look awesome

the only problem ive ever encountered is with crysis. yea the audio sometimes has a seizure. maybe my res. is set a bit too high or something. ive never tried fixing it cause i dont care too much for crysis.

I'll answer for them.. since they obviously have no idea. The G60 does NOT need to be completely torn down in order to replace the processor or re-apply thermal paste. It's literally 6 screws (4 holding down the processor's heat sink, and 2 more at the end of the heat sink.) then unplug and lift up the fan. From here you can upgrade the processor or clean/re-apply thermal paste. I literally JUST did this today. Upgraded from Core2 7600 to 9600. HUGE upgrade in overall performance too!

I also have the ASUS G60VX-JX006K and have done some research. It has the Intel PM45 chipset and that is said to support DDR2 667/800 and DDR3 667/800/1066 up to 8 GB. In the very near future (probably tomorrow), I'll try to upgrade it with two Kingston ValueRAM 4 GB SO-DIMM DDR3-1066 modules (and a Samsung 830 series 256 GB SSD). Have you tried this?

Hey man, i have this EXACT model computer and i got a question. I know a 64 bit OS supposedly can take more RAM but isnt that also based on the motherboard that can handle it? I did some research on this computer and im afraid to upgrade my RAM because it may not recognize the rest. Supposedly the motherboard can only support up to 4.

You probably should check what the max capacity RAM for that unit is first. Also, you should know whether you have 32 or 64 bit OS. Can I take off the metal cover over the fan (the fan shroud?) to better clean the fan? Not sure, but I'm going to try when opening up my laptop to clean it. Was overheating.

I just got my studio xps 16... annnnddd I just got Crysis from steam, now this laptop is beautiful! it runs Empire total war on max settings, I am aware Crysis is a more demanding game but I see that it is running fine for you, however when I play it on even medium settings and 720p my framerates about 20 which isnt so good, the specs of Crysis says laptop chipsets may not be supported and when I asked a dell rep they said the same thing. Can anyone help me? I would appreciate any suggestion

sebast05, the m96xt is the exact same video card as the 4670. i dont know why they use two different names for it though. okay so my question is, i also have a studio xps16 and i'm planning to upgrade my video card. i currently have the 3670. can i buy the 4670 and install it myself? or will i have to buy a whole new processor and motherboard as well? because i heard the video card is soldered onto the cpu. thank you for helping me out :) i hope to hear back from you soon.

I am defs buying this laptop and selling it 4 months later for the same price. I would just like to know how well it plays Modern Warfare 2 on MAX settings with Anti Aliasing on at least x2. If ANY lag is produced i would like to know. The 820 i7 handles loads so it reduces lag but how much better? FSB for i7 is 1333MHz so no bottlenecking with DDR3 ram included. PLEASE UPDATE ALL DRIVERS and BIOS FIRMWARE before TESTING. It can boost performance 20%.

I ordered mine last night. I was trying to keep it one the cheaper side so I got the Core2 Duo p8700 @ 2.53 ghz with the 3meg L2 and 1066 mhz front side bus, 4 gig of 1066mhz ddr3, the 250gb 7200rpm Sata drive, the normal CD/DVD drive, the Radeon 4670 (Would never skimp in that), and the 1600x900 screen. It's a pretty basic config, but I can't wait for it to show up! I'm getting the Logitch G5 to go with it. And old mouse, but still very good!

SPECS i7 1.6ghz - 2.8ghz Turbo Boost/ Overclocked ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 Video card /Graphics card 6GB DDR3 RAM 1600 x 900 Resolution Fingerprint Reader 17.3' Screen. it can run Crysis beautifully on Enthusiast L4D2 etc. screen is really nice along with chrome metal finish. no finger prints :D. I have the older model of this laptop with the 3670 gpu, and the P8600 CPU. If I am correct, I am UNABLE to upgrade the GPU due to the fact that it is intergraded into the mb. But I am able to upgrade the processor. But I can not find the specs on this motherboard to determain what processors I am able to upgrade to. Please fill me in as to what proc I can install on this beast. Thanks.

Dell should solve that Cooling Issue and get rid of that glass it's to reflective but I still buy one I just won't push it that much in Summer cause it would be like 40c and least 80% during the day at normal. I'm gonna get the 6GB DDR3, 2.93GHz CPU, 500GB RPM HDD, RGBLED 1080 LCD and the DTV Card but Dell Still doesn't have the 9 Cell option on the Australian Site

I used to have a HP Slimline. I don't feel that they stand by there products. It worked ok except for a minor over heating problem. But ever since I've upgraded to Windows 7, the BIOS has gone insane. It won't turn off by itself, it overheats more often, and is constantly noisy. For that reason, I left HP and wen't to dell. I have the Studio XPS 16 and I love it.

@rolf3542 ... it's not everything in more MB graphics of gpu (for example there is almost no diference between two gpu's using the same chip but diferent amount of ram on them). HD 4670 with P8600 !! will play chrysis on high settings & very near max res without any problem; with i7 it should play smooth on max settings & very near max res.

Nice laptop. But fail concept. Gaming laptops never have the best graphics or resolution. I bet you payed a mint price for that. For the cost of that laptop I bet you could get a good gaming rig. 'Good' being an i5 and a 5750. But still, nice laptop. I have the Studio 1535. But not for gaming. (it has a 3450)

hi, i would like to know, performance of games normally more based on graphic card or prossesor? i ordered my xps16 3 days ago, it has 4670 ati, but it's possessor is only Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz. i wonder if i can play this game??

Yes, I did notice that you had a cooling pad.... And a fan running and wishing for AC. That is why I made the suggestion of the laptop stand, if you use this computer in the stand there is no need for your "ghetto" setup As you put it.

I have a similar Studio XPS but the processor is a Core 2 Duo T8600 (2.4 GHz, , 3MB cache, 1066 MHz FSB), and the graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670 (512MB). Will I be able to run Crysis at similar settings or even at all?

I'm getting an XPS 16 like yours thats pretty much the same =D, I ordered it last thursday.. they have only acknowledged my order and havn't started building it yet.. I can't wait and hope it wont take too long, looks awesome!

lol nice laptop dude... and no offence but this thing is a joke compared to my freinds brothers desktop... it can play crysis with absolutely everything set on the highest lvl with no lag whatsoever... again, no offence

Hello there, have you, by any chance installed some other additional mods? I have similiar config exept that i have slower 512 mb GDR2 graphic memory.
