Great lecture - thank you! Why didn't you add an artificial R3 variable into equation 3 at the start of the first phase?

Artificial variables are always only added to the equations who had >= or = before being converted to standard form. Since equation 3 had <= before being converted to standard form, no artificial variable should be added to it.

THANK YOU! Much clearer than my professor. Your students are lucky to have you.

My students are lucky to have me? That is not what they say:-)Thanks for the kind words.

Why do you not add an artificial variable to the 3rd constraint? Thanks, Tyler

<or= no need to add artificial variable , it's only for >or= or =

why we have just one artificial variable?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+DrSalimian thanks for your answer

+DAHMANI Abir remember that if a constraint has a <= sign we only add slack variable to it to convert it into an equation. this slack variable has all conditions for being a basic variable. if a constraint is in the >= form then we need to subtract a variable from left hand side. this variable can not be used as a basic variable...my suggestion is to watch MOOCOR modules (each about 30 minutes) which explains these concepts in detail.

you shouldve explained how to introduce artificial variables!!!!
