Did you find a solution to this problem without replacing the headlight
switch? I'm having this issue on my NB.

+Hillbert go to Miata.net and the Garage section, theres tons of instructions. But really you just take off the airbag, steering wheel, unplug the harnesses and I think there may be a clip or something but then it should pull straight off. Its pretty easy to do. For me it was real simple cus I already had put in a Sparco wheel so that process was simpler.

+Hillbert Hey, I no longer use that account but that is my video. Long story short, no. There seems to be no good way to take it apart so I asked around on the Miata Forums and a user on there sold me a replacement for a fair price. On the NB It's cheaper I believe, mine is a 1990 and the 90-93's were a different style and more expensive.
