Buttonwillow Raceway 13CW, BMW E46 spin at Sunset in wet weather
To see the spin ,watch from 26:40. Track day with SpeedVentures at Buttonwillow on Dec 23, 2012. Running configuration 13CW in a 2003 E46 BMW 330i.
Do you know what caused the spin? It was that downshift. You aren't rev
matching and turning in and releasing the clutch will lock the wheels every
time. I think you have been going slow enough to where it hasn't affected
you, but the water took away your safety margin which will happen as you go
faster.
Thanks for the tip. I thought I had finished the downshift with rev
matching before the spin, but watching the video again, it does appear my
left leg is coming off the clutch pedal right before the rear breaks loose.
Wish I had data acquisition.
It appears so, that's why you get out there!!! To learn your limits as well
as the car and how to improve!!!

Dust Storm and Stunning Sunset near Gila Bend, AZ - August 12, 2015
WATCH IN HD*** After intercepting an incredible supercell south of Gila Bend, Corbin Jaeger and I headed north and then west along I-8 to intercept a crazy ...
That was awesome! I used to chase and watch storms there as Gila Bend
always seemed to get great storms. Also when visiting my grandmother in Sun
City West, I would take the turn off I-10 onto Sun Valley Parkway. That's a
great road side trip that takes you behind the White Tank Mountains and it
used to be pitch black out there at night with amazing electrical storms.
They have built houses and a shopping center on Sun Valley Parkway now :(.
I took a time exposure of the White Tanks once and caught 28 CG strikes all
along the storm base with an anvil crawler. I had it enlarged along with 2
other photos near the White Tanks. Those photos were the only ones that
survived our house fire. One time I chased a storm up old route 60 to
Wickenburg and watched not only an amazing sunset, but an unbelievable
storm where I counted over 1000 lightning discharges in just 20 minutes.
Some of the city storms were great yes; but I must admit the best storms I
witnessed were out in the open desert on deserted roads.
+Kevin Day Thank you! Gila Bend always seems to be a breeding ground for great storms. You are absolutely right, some of the storms out in the wide open desert are simply the best!
UP 5729 by Meredith, Illinois, Near Sunset on 1-5-2012
A load of unprocessed electricity, led by a GE AC44CCTE, rolls east past the setting sun on the Union Pacific's Geneva sub. Train was slowing to a crawl as it ...
Ha, I just came back from shooting trains in the sunset! Definitely a nice
capture, I think this turned out well, especially the DPU shot where the
sun flashes through the silhoetted cars, that is VERY cool, and so is the
sunset! Nice job.
At this time of day there would be a coal train heading onto the EJ&E
usually south towards Joliet.I'm pretty sure that this train originated
from Black Thunder Minein Wyoming.
@IAISrailfanner I think it was going slow because UP dispatch had them
holding short of Meredith Road. Still many miles to go to that connector in
West Chicago.
