OMG, Girl! I used to do this! Those tomatoes are hot!! I boiled the jars
on the oven in a big pot, lids in another pot. I never added the lemon
stuff to mine. I cleaned my tops but not with vinegar. So I didn't know to
boil the jars after they were full. I did all you did, boiled the jars,
lids and seals. Mine would seal good. Nice "pop" and I thought I was
good. But now I see that there is more to it. I had a TON of tomatoes and
pickles go bad. DON"T let it happen to you! I think a Ball Canner or some
type of reboil type canner is good! Thank you for putting this video on
you tube!

Right! We respect our sweet elders! Hubby bought me a FoodSaver for an early Christmas present that I started using. I will start canning my tomatoes next summer.

+Cat Lover Thank YOU for watching it and taking time to chat with me! You know, a LOT of people have been taught to can exactly as you did. I was taught that way as well, by my precious grandmother, and never thought to question her until I was taught different (and why) in college. Of course, I didn't correct her then, I just quietly started canning the way I was supposed to and then canned all of her things for her! :)
