I'm missing somethings:
1- If the endgame was to wire it by hand, why'd we make a PCB?
2- At no time does anyone mention copying the original PROM into a new one.
Otherwise I'm LOVING the chance to see how the things from my early
computer career are being done, today. Life's SO much easier, like this!
+Brian Fahrlander This is the 3rd part. He goes through replacing the ROM. He uses a 32K one and includes original and a custom ROM with a switch to boot from either.
It's great to see that America has finally acknowledged the brilliance of
Sir Clive Sinclair and the ZX Spectrum. You didn't really take to the Timex
Sinclair version all those years ago!
+Robinson Road The Sinclair 1000 Was also a Z80 CPU and the Whole Motherboard had only 4 Chip The Z80, Ram, Rom and a Multi Function Chip which was a very slow Computer and only 2 K of Ram which Could be Up Graded to 16, 32 or 48 K of Ram Modules but Writing some Program you had to Take Some Memory Module off at Time for Programming which was a Pain in the But, because Some Program only Work on the 2K of internal Ram and other 16K of Ram! But at that Time I was Programming I enjoy the Learning of Programming Different Computer Like Osborne 1, IBM PC Jr, Apple 2 Plus with Z80 CP/M Option, Commodore 64, IBM PCXT and PCAT, Timex Sinclair 1000 up to 48K Modules, TI 99/4A and the Tandy 100 Computers Which was Fun and Time Consumming Still Programming in C++ and Cuda Lots of Fun - Derf
+Adam Stężycki That part is smaller. However, you cannot download additional tape images to the MP3 player on the go, unless you have another few pieces of equipment with you. I'm going to doubt that it's "better" because file navigation in MP3 players is usually inferior, and sound quality is of no regard to a 1-bit loader running a few KHz.A phone is something you always have on you, and you can download and play tape images straight out. I think it's an elegant solution. One thing i disliked is the buzzer, i think it will butcher some of the more complex tunes which use the range beyond cutoff frequency of the speaker as a primitive analog demodulator to make something that sounds better than your typical 1-bit pulse, it would become audible buzz on the buzzer instead. But i'm not entirely sure how to fix it, maybe laptop/tablet/psp speaker, maybe some analog filter. Another issue is no ability to save - neither a disc interface nor tape output. I'm not sure whether tape output would have made the project a lot more difficult, but if it didn't, it would be worthwhile.
+Paul Johnson If the place of origin gets to claim the "proper" name for something, then calling them crisps is improper. So, either start calling them Potato Chips, or let the ZEE thing slide.
Potato chips are chips (you call them french fries despite the french never having created them). Crisps describes what they are. If you take a chip out of a block of wood that is fairly thin, it's a shaving, not a chip. Same applies to crisps - they are more a potato shaving that has been fried until crisp.... My apologies for being English and therefore correct ;)
+Paul Johnson Stop calling potato chips "crisps" and we'll talk.

Haha priceless rzxarchive is correct wailer27 ...you made yourself like a
knob jockey I suggest you shut your mouth before you make yourself look
like a bigger fool....if that's still possible
I never knew you could jump and at the same time pick up the object you
were just standing on to gain extra height. Can you do this in the original
game, or is it part of your hack?

I had this tune on a music jukebox that came with one the magazines,
sinclair user i think, never knew it was pacman though as it was untitled.
This (and the robocop title music) are probably the best tunes I ever heard
on the spectrum and as a kid I used to play them both all the time. I
recorded them to cassette and used to take them into school lol That
casette had some banging chip tune music on it, wish I could find it. ;-)
@edzzzwin No he won't. This track is a "remix" wich is absolutely legal on
everywhere on the planet. And i think Jarre Maestro does not care about
people who uses his songs anyway. Actually Hannibal Lecter will see you in
his plate for trying to spread FUD and threatening someone, who did not do
anything.
No. It was done by AY-3-8910 sound chip, similar to today's GPU, but only
generating sound. ZX Spectrum 128, as well as Amstrad 128, MSX and Atari ST
were equipped with it. Look at 3w ... youtube.com/watch?v=eSfoQKiXo5g
@edzzzwin Why don't you download this file from World Of Spectrum (link
already added), get an emulator, and find it out by yourself? Please inform
yourself before offending me.

Commando Walkthrough, ZX Spectrum
A walkthrough of the 1985 ZX Spectrum game, Commando. This recording is from a hack of the original version by James McKay, using a 128K soundtrack ...
another ZX spectrum fantastic game...looking this game I simply dont
believe that a game like this can be made with a 8 bits, 48k of ram, with
no coprocessors. brilliant job of the coders.
Really makes a difference putting that tune in. The game was very
enjoyable as it stood but the addition of a game tune just adds a little
more to a great dish :)
A multi-loader demo with various neat effects in each section, but lacking in a soundtrack for the most part. It's a shame they couldn't cut down on the amount of ...
