if they are spending 2.8 Billion Dollars (muhahaha) they must make that
money back. Obviously they can't on one car, so they must make it back on
multiple modes before they invest more money on new research and
development after the initial 2.8 bill. Don't worry so much about the cost
of the raw materials and manufacturing of the parts after all the research
is done because in actuality the development of those parts should be
considered in their overal cost. Here is an example of what I mean. All the
major R&D from the Veyron was used again in the Chiron. VW did not have to
reinvent the wheel. They just improved upon Veyron technology. Finally the
company is profiting. They're still paying off the veyron mom's R&D with
the Chiron. On a side note, all these models will make a lot of money for
Mclaren, especially if they start making sedans and crossovers like Porsche
but the resale values might plummet.
