I am a student Filmmaker currently attending a college in NYC tasked with creating a documentary. It began as a portrait of a young basketball player who ...
Brooke Fraser leads Amazing Grace at Hillsong NYC
Easter Sunday at the Grand Ballroom, Manhattan Center.
I doubt any of these people are really born-again. They are good musicians
and help draw huge crowds. But Christianity is not about crowds. It is
about being transformed and becoming a NEW CREATURE in Christ, set apart
from the world, not conforming to its standards and pulling others out of
its corrupt systems into the glorious kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
+handakina If the Holy Spirit is within a person, they would behave like a holy person, not like worldly people -- putting color on your face, dancing and gyrating to rock music and encouraging others to do so. The great prophets of scripture fell flat on their faces at the presence of God. What you are preaching is a false Jesus, who doesn't care about your lifestyle so long as you pay lip service to him.
+Craig Henderson. all i can say is GOD bless you and i will pray for you so that you can see beyond you're ego and celebrate others success in spreading the word of Jesus. whether we preach for one or millions the Holy spirit is with us.
+Shelby DeLisserSo are they representing Christ, with all that lighting and smoke and rock music? The Bible says women should cover their heads in worship. I've never seen any woman in Hillsong do that. They have probably reached such a high level of Holiness that they no longer need to obey the Bible. In fact what they are doing is representing a false Jesus to the crowds - a Jesus who is willing to make compromise with the ways of the world.
The crowds doesn't make them any less Christian. Jesus was our example and many crowds came to Him. He said narrow is the way and few would go the narrow way. That didn't stop Him from reaching out to the masses back then or even now. We can't base if someone is born again or not in a worship band because of the crowds. We can base someone's fruits on if they are representing Christ. Are those huge crowds seeing more of their need of a savior and a new life in Him or not? That's what you look should be noticing.
+Shane Marks Good you brought him up. Because he is a false prophet just the same, selling his sermons for money and scared to say homosexuality is sin for fear of losing those "big crowds". Imagine Peter or Paul in the Bible doing that! How many lives do you think get saved when the blind lead the blind? And why should I feel jealous of fallen people? My only concern is for innocent lives who fall prey to these greedy wolves in sheep's clothing.
+Craig Henderson You are not making sense dude. That's like saying TD Jakes is a false prophet as the suits he wears do not come cheap... and there are big crowds wherever he preaches, used by God to change lives of thousands just like Hillsong does in their music... You seem bitter and jealous... lighten up and pray about what you are feeling..
+Hannah Filler I don't just doubt them. I know they're leading young people into error, making them think that God is somehow okay with all this worldly stuff.
+handakina You should never confuse the Holy Spirit for adrenaline. Anyone who loves the Lord should be able to worship him without all the fancy stuff...disco lights, smoke, etc.
+Craig Henderson forget their attire and how they look when they worship. listen to the songs and worship from your heart. feel the presence of holy spirit that will change your life forever.
+ELEXIS ROSASIt is quite obvious from what they do. They are always decked up in costly attire and faces colored etc., seeking and drawing attention to themselves rather than the Lord. Then they sell all this music (which is supposed to be worship) and make a lot of money from that.
+ELEXIS ROSAS Hello, kettle... you're black. You are judging our opinions based on your opinions. Of course they are our opinions... that is all we have. Did you think I would base my comment on your opinion? Please understand that God gives us discernment and we are allowed to use it. And you are using the term "self-righteous" incorrectly. I don't attribute anything good to myself but give God all of the glory. I do agree that the original comment, "I doubt any of these people are really born-again" is un-called for... as I do not know them... but the music is not giving God the glory but rather giving themselves the glory.
You're judging based on YOUR opinion of these people and how YOU think they live. You don't even know them personally. You don't know how they live outside of Hillsong. How do you know what kind of lives they live aside from this ministry. You're in the wrong here. Self righteous in fact. No doubt there are some who are not living clean but to say EVERY one of those arent saved isn't right.
+Craig Henderson I agree... I have friends who "worship" this group... I prefer Jimmy Needham who plays to small crowds and his songs reflect that God gets the fame.
+Joi OcampoThat verse is actually meant for you. Samuel thought that Eliab was good looking and fit to be king. It is the same mistake we make today. We think people are fit to lead worship because they are good looking and could sing well. But what God requires is a ...NEW CREATURE in Christ, set apart from the world, not conforming to its standards and pulling others out of its corrupt systems into the glorious kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
What makes you say that? Are you able to see their hearts? "But the LORD said to Samuel, "Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7.
