+Adam Sanchez You can certainly add a split shot or even a tiny egg sinker to get bait down into the strike zone, however in relatively shallow water, a hooked sardine is going straight down anyway. - Capt Mike

Plenty in Virginia around may use live eels or a big buck tail off the piers or go down the coast to obx and pin rig for them in the summer then you have a chance for kings too
