Add a Glassbreaker/Hammer to Glock Field Knife in 45 Minutes
I show you how to add a cool hammer/glassbreaker pommel to a Glock Field Knife, further increasing its usefulness. Thanks to the added weight of the bolt, the ...
A layman´s question. Won´t the handle, the metal, loose stability when you
remove a bit of it by drilling / damage it?
Will screwin in the bolt improve the stability of the handle?
Also, if you use the bolt as a hammer / glass breaker, won´t that damage
the thread?
+RobWhittlestoneIt was just a layman´s question as I am not familiar with metalworking.Guess I will buy two of these knifes and try my luck with one. I was about to buy this knive thinking that it had a glass breaker / the metal going all the way through the handle, only to notice in a review that it did not and instead was hollow. I´ve also found out that it was meant as a bajonet for the Steyr Aug and that´s why it´s hollow inside.Your video has solved my problem, theoretically, for now.I´ve read good things about this knive so I wanted to see for myself what 35€ can get me.A random guy from the US of A has also recommended me products from the manufacteur Cold Steel, but unfortunately the Chaos Tanto isn´t available over here, because of the amazing gun and weapon laws.Yet we are allowed to buy actual swords etc. .
+Gottlieb M. Good questions! To your first question: theoretically yes, of course! But in practice it is still so strong, that with my strength and anything I am likely to do, I will never notice any weakening. And yes, I believe that screwing in this large steel bolt will increase the already very high strength of the handle (the open end of the steel tube can no longer be flattened). And thirdly, yes, theoretically, hammering could damage the thread very slightly, but I believe it is so strong and my force as a human is really negligible compared with the force necessary to deform the bolt thread and the handle thread. If the handle tube and bolt were made of something softer - let us imagine it being made of chocolate (yum yum!) then I would imagine immediate damage would be the result. Even something a bit harder like perspex (acrylic). But here we are talking about quite a thick steel tube made from knife-grade steel and a large steel bolt, so I think it will absorb a LOT of punishment (more than I can give it) before anything happens. Thank you for thinking about the interactions and commenting! All the best, Rob
+Samuel Phillips Thanks! I thought so too - it seemed like the only thing missing from this excellent but economical knife. Thanks for watching and commenting! All the best, Rob
Great video, very nice mod. Just picked up a couple of Glock knives, one
of each style. They're such fantastic value for money and tough as nails.
Do you find levering off the end cap damages it in any way? I'd like to use
the space inside the handle for storing things like waterproof matches, but
I'm just concerned the cap might become loose and fall out from repeated
removal given the soft polymer material.
Thank you for the delightful compliments. Now I'm blushing! Yes, I also used to be brainwashed into thinking that "guns are bad and so are the people that want them".But I've also been fascinated by them my whole life long and have been not bad at shooting all my life, as far as one could in UK (funfairs and so-on). But now I suspect that the anti-gun lobby has a hidden agenda or is the puppet of a sinister Big Brother. With draconian laws about ownership, only criminals and LE have weapons. Joe Citizen Sheeple is predestined to be a victim. As far as I can perceive, greenies, lefties and feminists are jumping on the "ban all guns" bandwagon. Being a competent shooter is a very fine thing - I derived enormous pleasure whacking steel half-torsos down at half a kilometer with my custom K31. And getting tight groups at 25m or 50m also with rapid fire is immensely satisfying - even more so when the average YouTube gun channel shows hits over the whole target at 7 yards. I admire this aspect of Swiss gun culture the most. The average Swiss does not realize how lucky he is that the State sponsors good marksmanship in the population. How I wish I could say that of the UK or USA. In the days of Henry VIII and earlier, citizens were called upon to practice archery on the village green. This need has now been lost, sadly. Swiss marksmanship and armament is one aspect that has made potential aggressors think twice about invading. There is an apocryphal story (urban legend) about a conversation between a Swiss General and a German General in the WWII: German: "I hear you have an army of half a million conscripts" Swiss: "Yes, that's right". German: "Well, if I appear on the border with a million men, what do you say to that?" Swiss: "Then my men will have to shoot twice before they go home". Such is the confidence in the average Swiss soldier's marksmanship. And I know for a fact that there is a minimum score that soldiers have to achieve at 300m with iron sights otherwise life gets unpleasant for them and they have to train and practice and shoot again until they succeed. Failure is not a long-term option. OK. Enough rambling! All the best, Rob
+RobWhittlestone Yes, think I'll have to give that a try on one of my knives! Nice to see a British channel in the gun community, offering thoughtful and insightful videos. There's certainly not many, which I suppose is to be expected here given our Big Brother restrictions on anything shooting related. Very interesting to see things from the Swiss perspective anyway. A very enlightened society and such a beautiful place to live. I think I'm sold! Keep up the good work.
+kodoyama Hi! Thanks for the compliment! Yes, the end cap is really easy to damage by levering it off: you have to be very careful. I used a Swiss Army knife to slide under the plastic lip and gently lever it off. Ideally you would need something with a better closing mechanism that isn't so fragile like ... a bolt that can be screwed into the threaded inner steel tube. Wait! There's a video from a guy who did just that! You could cut the threads of the bolt to be really short so that there is plenty of room inside, but I would still want to cover up the holes in the side, so it is watertight.I hope this was of some help. Thanks for viewing and commenting! All the best, Rob
Thanks for sharing this modification. Would you please answer why it is
necessary to remove the zinc first? Is it to prevent rusting or does it
have something to do with the gun blue. It is obviously important to take
so much time to do it. Thanks.
+Stargazer131000 The zinc would have prevented the gun blue from working. The gun blue requires contact with an substance rich in iron, like steel. Otherwise the result would have been very patchy blue/black where bare steel showed through and silver where the zinc was.I hope this was helpful! All the best, Rob
And the amount of filtration and treatment that water will need is
horrifying. Who in their right fucking mind would ever want to eat a fish
that came from that tank? For fucks sake dude. 3000 fish??? Oh no wait I
totally forgot, fish don't shit, piss, feel pain, or have "souls", so this
is all okay. Smdh
Oh and btw, how the hell would you know if any of them die in there? Would
dead fish carcasses accumulating at the bottom of the tank be a good idea?
I mean, what could you even do to clean that kind of water? Yeah you can
filter, but then what about the pathogens? The amount of chlorine you'd
need would kill all of them. Absurdity at its finest.
You have a lot of good questions. All of the answers are out there if you have some s science and engineering background. I am sorry if you don't understand, but that is the biggest problem.
This is gross and very wrong. Making money off of animal suffering is
cowardly. There is a BIG difference between this and a school of fish.
That is no justification for shortsighted, greed motivated cruelty. Enjoy
that paycheck.
Shut the fuck up! you have no right to speak, earths consuming human.
