Pope to launch Twitter account by answering questions on faith

In a sense, sexual abuse is "continual" because ultimately, human nature
isn't perfect. However, in most countries, there are zero-tolerance norms
and training programs in place to help prevent these things from happening.
"Systematic" does not simply mean "system-wide". I would caution your
simplistic usage because "systematic" also implies that the sexual abuse
was deliberately institutionalized as a practice among the clergy, which is
both disingenuous and false. What a disgusting mentality.
I never denied that the Church was at fault for letting it happen, but I
would say it's more of gross negligence, "I believe your contrition to
never do it again", than outright systematic, "how can we protect these
pedophiles". Keep in mind that most of the abuse happened in the 60s, 70s,
& 80s, during the sexual revolution and a time when it was believed that
therapy could cure things like pedophilia. Also, Canon (Church) Law had no
guidelines on how to deal w/ the issue. Hence, the tragedy.
"Continual" and "Systematic"? I think not. Most of the abuse happened
decades ago, and most of the perpetrators are already dead. Also, the norms
instituted in the United States in the late 90's and early 2000's to deal
with this issue are the models for other countries to follow and implement.
Pope Benedict XVI has apologized countless times and met with victims in
his various travels. Look up his letter addressed to abuse victims [in
Ireland].
For a Church that is historically referred to a ship that moves slowly, and
has responded quickly as it has, this is nothing short of a miracle which I
thank the media for bringing to light. This great evil does not take away
from the overall good that the Legionnaires of Christ have done and
continue to do every single day, and nor should it. This is why the Church
preaches unconditional forgiveness.
"Rephrase"? Uh..no. Seems like the person in denial isn't me. Is it so
shocking that after a huge moral failure, a practicing Catholic such as
myself would not be doubting my faith at whose core preaches death and
resurrection? Scandals come and go; the Church has survived much worse.
Long after we are both gone, the Church will still be around.
"Here’s a core truth about life in the church, one which often gets lost
amid the clamor of whatever’s happening at the moment: The Catholic story
is always a mix of shadows and light, of both heartache and hope, and
emphasizing one at the expense of the other necessarily means missing part
of the picture." -John L. Allen, Jr.
It ultimately depends on the country, because what happened in the U.S.
didn't necessarily happen in the same way, as it did in Ireland. In Asia,
for example, their problem isn't pedophilia, but priests having consensual
relationships and fathering children. This is why I try to avoid making
blanket statements.
If you're going to assign a biased and unfair blanket over a section of
society, you might as well stop paying for teachers, boy and girl scouts,
and forget your own family because statistically, a child is more likely to
be abused in that situation than by a priest. Where's your outrage for
those victims?
Except that the initial statement fails to include the major strides the
current pope has done, including before he became pope. This channel does
have some videos on what the current pope and Pope John Paul II did to
change policies and procedures. I would highly recommend viewing them. :-)
If you care so much about people's well being, then you should learn to
forgive the sins of the past. You can't change what happened the past; you
can only move forward to prevent future tragedy. Only in forgiveness can
true healing begin, and children be protected.
Actually, not really. Anyone who has ever met Pope Benedict, including
victims of abuse (see the press about his meeting with abuse victims in
Malta), has found him to be sincere. I can't say the same about someone
like Cardinal Bernard Law, though.
Pope Benedict has already begged for forgiveness. Why can't you accept
that? If you can't accept his beautiful letter to abuse victims, what
difference will it make on twitter?
Viva el Papa! Now I want to make a twitter account again :D
How Would You Feel If Your Gay Best Friend Said They Had A Crush On You?
Previous Video: //y2u.be/7-fe8fgOWcQ She confessed her feelings to her straight best friend, but now she stopped talking to her. Commentary by: • Joe Jo: ...
I can understand coming out to a friend. They wont reject or avoid you. But
why would you come on to a friend and confess your lust or love for them IF
YOU KNOW THEY'RE NOT GAY? What's your angle? That is awkward. It's the
equivalent of them saying Hey I know you're straight and all but I want to
pound your asshole and suck the cum out of it. O.O What is a straight
person suppose to do with that information. You know they're not Gay. Why?
why would you do that and then act like a victim? Are you telling them so
hopefully they'll come around and become gay as well?
You have to remember that lots of " straight " people are in the closet or bi-curious. I guess the confessor has hope that maybe they'll be the lucky one.
+ROCKWITHGREGPeople taking chances I guess, but it does end up being bad for both sides if its not that outcome they wanted. I agree that its unfair, especially if person starts playing the victim card and start guilt tripping the "friend" they confessed to.
+Edges I exaggerated to emphasis the awkward feeling of a heterosexual person. lol But it comes off pretty inconsiderate and selfish for a friend to compromise there friendship just because they want to get something off there shoulder knowing nothing can come out of it. For example you would never tell your girlfriend you sometimes feel like slapping the shit out of them when she makes you upset. Social awareness and empathy is essential when dealing with difficult decisions like this. It's unfair to the friendship to do that.
+ROCKWITHGREG You got some imagination with the whole asshole and cum sucking out of it. Some people just want to express their feelings rather than bottle it up. Obviously outcome is not a happy ending, but its better to be out there.
