@Flavoade Let us not forget that german cars are designed to be driven at
those kind of speeds, while American cars are pretty much meant to cruise
around 60-80, I've gone 130+ in American Cars, and I didn't feel safe at
all, but in my Audi, 120 is a joke to that car. Bottom line, if people in
these cars were allowed to go over 111, especially idiots, they'd probably
kill themselves. Hope the wrong person doesn't cut you off and you have to
rely on those American brakes to stop you from 110+ MPH
I have had it happen to me a few times already. The older American made
vehicles are unsafe at high speeds, but the newer models handle it quite
well. I have a 2003 CTS which is built on an Opel Euro platform, like most
American cars today. I have reached the limiter which is 125MPH and it very
is stable at those speeds. Your are correct on the brakes, they are very
poor. I had them Churned 2 weeks ago and they are warped again. The CTS is
a great vehicle GM sadly gave it lacking components.
Yeah 2nd provides a higher shift point, but some governed cars (especially
older models) would only be governed in the top gear. My STS is z-rated and
its VIN states that by law it must have z-rated tires on it due to the
speeds it is capable of reaching. Some good tire shops here determine the
proper tire for a car by its VIN# first. But I never have enough room to go
over 180km anyway. Our highway cops are very sneaky and seem to come out of
nowhere. The fastest I've taken it was 250km/h
Do not hate GM, hate your lawsuit happy neighbors and their lawyers. It is
all about liability! If GM let their cars run as fast as they could (like
in the 60's and 70's) you could bet your life some dip-shit would wear the
original tires out and instead of replacing them with a similar type, they
would go cheap and put some low rated crap tires on it and drive it well
over 130MPH with 90MPH rated tires. They would crash, and file a lawsuit vs
GM saying "They made my car too fast!"
my 03 Deville cut off at 110, sadly. I know it could reach much higher
speeds with ease. my pops had an 05 cts (sport luxury) paper work called it
a cts-v from dealership but there was no V badge on it. wasn't able to top
that one out but I hit 140mph with it before i had to slow down running out
of road, but governor never kicked in on me. bad ass car, loved it.
would've bought one if I didn't have a kid. that's why I went with deville
@dnl5649 damn thatnk u for that info. my buddy had a speed chip in his 1990
cadillac coupe deville and we got to 125 ish in that thing. and for a boat
like that it was pretty fast. i heard of summit racing before that site is
huge now. my buddy just got drilled rotorsfor his integra at a way good
price with the brake pads. but their stock pads. again thanks for that
info. gonna be gettin a dts n hopefully throwin some stuff in her
Almost all American cars produced today are running on platforms designed,
and engineered in Europe. The Charger, 300, Challenger, Crossfire, etc are
built off of last generation Mercedes platforms. The Cadillacs, Pontiacs,
Chevys, etc are built off of platforms used by GM subsidiaries in Europe,
and Aussie land. Ford was the 1st with this strategy, the rest followed. I
tracked my CTS a few months ago and it performed quite well.
That is one of the reasons all BMW, Merc, Audi's, and such have 155MPH
limiters. Not only does the limiter save courtroom time, it saves money. A
Mercedes S65 AMG has more than enough power to send it faster than 205+. If
Mercedes were to allow that car to do that, they would then have to equip
it with 200+ tires, brakes, windshields, everything; one reason why exotics
cost their price. The solution? Move to the Middle East.
@extracredit100 if you want your car to go way over the stock top speed, go
to summitracing (dot) com and click your car and engine and you can get a
power tuner that will lift the top speed, rev limiter, shift points and
much more, or you can buy computer chips and tune it up. a northstar is
capable of over 300 + horsepower if you do that to it
@romanback i know they have a strong top end because i hit 130mph in about
half mile the other day goin to work! lol im lookin to sell my car but
before i do im goin to take it out on the highway, i mean a closed course
and top it out. im thinkin at least 150mph because it does 130mph no
problem and gets there fast
i never seen some 1 so excited to do 111 mph lol german cars drive at 130
mph all day long crazy american thats a sls or dhs the dts and sts go above
140 mph i had a 98 sts had it above 120mph and i also got a 01 dts they
both have north stars but the dts and sts are programmed diffrent and have
25 more hp
Fuel injector cut off. Try running it in 3rd and let it automatically shift
on OD while the shifter is still in 3rd. It may or may not let you climb
over. I have my doubts I guess but its worth a shot. Don't know as I've
never had a governed Caddy :D
Yaaaaa... I have a car thats about 8 years older than yours, completely
stock, with a smaller engine, a heavier car, and it still kicks your cars
ass. Also, my car has 339000 or so miles on it. If you own an Acura Legend,
you understand!
hey if it was a dts it would be rated at top speed of 155 the reason
caddillac and oldsmobile did this to the northstars is becuz the tire
coulddnt handle over 111 on some modles and the models with the options
didnt have a govenor
acura legends are nice reliable cars but i dont know about it kicking a
northstars ass. this caddy is the 275 hp version(only in the deville&DHS)
my dts has the 300hp version and i have been way over 111mph in it.
damn i thought it would go faster than that. i have a 2003 DTS and i have
been to 125mph with more to go.and the crazy part about the story was i was
goin 125mph side by side with my dad in his 2003 dts!!! lol
yea the injectors shut off. thats a bitch. where u go to take that governer
off? got my audi a4 to 145- 150 ish then outta nowhere dead. guess they
gotta make it so the cops can getcha huh
my 95 cut off at 110 with our old tranny wit 3.48:1 final drive gr and old
pcm now has no govenor and now does the whole speeo with the 3.71:1 final
drive gr and new pcm
I dont understand why they have 111MPH speed cuts in American cars. I
thought the Japs only do that (180km/h) with their cars. Sorry I'm not from
the states.
why is everyone just saying shit oo my this my that would make a video
response then and stop chatting shit especially those oo i hav a buggatti
veyron
