haha well, it depends on how you define lovely. Lanzhou is a very different place from other places in China that a lot of people visit. It's not bright and polished like Beijing. There are a lot of dirty streets, pollution, no real English speakers outside of major businesses and universities, and its own set of problems. However, the people of Lanzhou are amazing - they are genuinely friendly and caring. I have a lot of videos that I made when I was in Lanzhou if you want to check them out

I went and stayed in LanZhou in 2004, then again in 2005, and seeing this video brings back a few memories : I live in New Zealand so, if it's grey sky like in this video, it's generally quite cold yet, in LanZhou in May-September, it can look like this and be 40 degrees (celsius), which made my hand burn on the metal security door to my flat. I assume this is your personal vid (vid maker)? What did you like/dislike about the place?

I watched this video before I studied in Lanzhou for a semester, and looking back at this video again, I am reminded of so many good memories! I made quite a few videos about my life there.....I am going back there this summer to teach for a year and can't wait to make more videos to show everyone!

i stayed in lanzou from 2007 to 2009 and this place is really embedded in my heart,prating that i visit again once more..most captivating for me mainly was the huang he river and its big hotel boats and sheep skin boats,,this small documentaries really does jog up some heart warming memories!!

that's too bad....I would also recommend Tianshui and Yinchuan - both really good places! Yinchuan for the food and generally relaxed atmosphere, and Tianshui for the VERY relaxed atmosphere and very happy citizens. Maiji Mountain near Tianshui is definitely worth a visit. Happy travels!

hehe yum, yeah I'll learn some mandarin to talk to them :) I like the real places than shiny cities, hopefully lots of temples and good view places, did have quite a few places set on fravourites but got deleted :( so just starting again

yeah, this is definitely a place that not many other white people go. I lived in Lanzhou for six months, and only ever saw two or three other foreigners on the streets the entire time I was there.....and I was on the street a lot.
