ELK TALK - IDAHO ELK TAG DRAWING (hunting)
Idaho has great elk hunting, lots of public land, and abundant opportunity. This video explains the Limited Entry (Controlled Hunt) elk tag drawing system for ...
Why haven't we seen an OYOA in Idaho? I know in your podcast with Cory
Jacobsen you said they won't take your money but what about the general
tags. Plus their archery opens before we do in MT. Seems like a good fall
back plan.
+Cody Abbott - May not be a good reason, Cody, but here it is. Idaho has the latest of all the drawings. We have to do all we can to get tags in every state drawing prior to that, due to the risk of not having enough tags to film a season. We always end up with a half-dozen or so tags in other state drawings and those tags have always conflicted with the OTC/General tag options that we could hunt in Idaho. Our absence is not because we don't want to hunt Idaho, just a function of schedules and timing of the draw. Hope we get there soon.
+clayton hickman - Unfortunately, we did not do a video for Oregon. Reason being that Oregon has great elk hunting for residents, but the cost for non-residents and the very small percentage of tags allocated to non-residents makes Oregon not nearly as attractive for non-residents as it is for residents. Not many non-residents apply/hunt in Oregon, compared to the other elk states. Sorry about that.
