+The Orginal Mike P the main issue with the auto is the clutch packs. if you can afford it, get some heavy duty clutches even if you're going to keep it stock. if you want to do some street/strip racing then go to a company called "level 10", they make a decent torque converter, and change the shift points. do NOT take it to just any shop cause most of them screw it up, cause it's a complicated trans. good luck
+The Orginal Mike P I've got a 97' tiptronic, and for a stock transmission, it shifts fairly quick. I usually shift it around 6700rpm, so that it will shift by the time it hits redline. I've got a 0-80ish video of it if you want to check it out. mine has type S cams and pistons, and I built a sealed ram air system for it. so I'm guessing the engine is making somewhere around 225-230ish. if you buy one, use only Honda trans. fluid. get an aftermarket trans. cooler, they aren't expensive. about 30$, and don't down shift aggressively.

is this totally stock? have you ever timed a 0-60 (mile per hour)? I've
timed my 97 auto (poor mans type S) and it came in at just under 6 seconds.
now, it wasn't totally accurate cause I used a stop watch, but close
enough. just curious what yours does. if I'm not mistaken your vti is the
European version of the jdm type S
