@1988scottcarey It's certainly starting to seem that way. Oh well, there is
always Australia to look forward to when this entire, once great country
becomes overwhelmed by ungrateful immigrants. Welcome to Australia; leave
all previous cultural values in the country you ESCAPED from and embrace
the country that gives you refuge --or get the hell out.
Private company private rules, they can do as they please, whether you
agree with them or not, it is their right as a company to run it as they
see fit.
What I don't get is, this company must've known about them praying or their
wanting to before they were hired, so why this firing now?
Prayers don't take more than 5 minutes usually, unless more of the same
type of workers came and it became overwhelming for them to stop work 5
times a day at that point and decided its better to let them go?
Disgusting what some of these people are positing, these same people are
the ones yelling out for people not to be sheep, meanwhile they are the
sheep being manipulated by the media to hate on people they have probably
never met before.
+Iammram "What I don't get is, this company must've known about them praying or their wanting to before they were hired, so why this firing now?" They were fired for walking off the job and not reporting to work! Reading is a skill.
+SSanf Ok, we're both idiots. I sure hope for the sake of this country there are more idiots like me than you. Did you really say you doubt all 200 are Muslim? LMAO...
+playlist55Don't be an idiot. I highly doubt that all 200 are Muslims. They could be allowed to have a few minutes each and not all at the exact same time. The sun takes at least a half hour to set, you know. Only someone pretty stupid would think the entire line would need to be shut down. Accommodations can be made the same as are made for other breaks and lunch. It is idiots like you who dig their heels in and say things can't be done rather than seeking reasonable ways that they can who are the real problem in the country.
+SSanf So, the right thing to do is to shut down a production line on a moving schedule of when the sun sets so 200 people can pray? Who are you talking to about entitlement? You people (that believe that is the right thing to do) are the idiots that are gonna put this country in the crapper. But, I think that is your purpose. The rest of us need to wake up!
+SSanf Muslims need to check THEIR sense of entitlement. Like these Muslims and many Christians, assholes like you are just making excuses for keeping society down and dumb. I see through you, so yeah, fuck you and your thinly-veiled excuses. You may agree with out-of-date rituals that tell large groups of the population how to think, but you do not fucking have the right to tell me I need to somehow respect keeping society brainwashed.
+BLuecoLLarcanuckIn no way is another person practicing their religion on their breaks at work forcing anything on you other than common courtesy and patience. If that is just too much for you to endure, you need to check your feelings of entitlement. Of course religion should not be a part of government proceedings or a part of institutions funded by tax dollars. And, it goes without saying that all employees should receive the same amount of break time. If some want to use it for religion, so what? That is their business. Accommodations should be made because it is the right thing to do.
+SSanf Actually, when religions push to be allowed to "exercise" their rituals regardless of anything else, it IS trying to force their ways on the rest of us. Then they scream "DISCRIMINATION!!" when they don't get their way. (And from what I see, the vast majority of religious types pulling this crap are Muslims). Same deal with Kim Davis, usurping the very laws she was supposed to uphold- laws decided in court, I might add- as a civil servant, somehow can't get it through her thick fucking skull that we don't burn witches and gay men at the stake in Western societies nowadays.
+BLuecoLLarcanuckYou have freedom from. I am pretty sure they will not ask you to pray with them. When the day comes that you are forced to pray at the point of a gun, then you will not have freedom from religion. Just because you are annoyed by other peoples ideas and their legal expression of those ideas does not mean your freedom has been impinged upon. You have no right to freedom from the annoyance of ideas you do not agree with.
+SSanf It's a shame that we still choose religious bullshit fairy tales over advancing humanity as a whole. And if we're going to play that freedom card, I demand freedom FROM religion. It's just a thinly-veiled attempt to push Islamic demands on everyone else. Fuck 'em.
+BLuecoLLarcanuckYes, I am in my own bought and paid for home. Most sensible retired people are. Yes, if people contract to work, they should do he job they agreed to do. That being said, where possible, reasonable work place accommodations should be made for the personal needs of the employees. If we can allow lunch breaks and 15 minute breaks for employees well being by law, we can also allow a few minutes for religion. Freedom to exercise religion should be supported. Religious freedom is one of the fundamental values of our society. It is shameful that any citizen ever needs to be reminded of this.
+SSanf Sure, in their OWN HOMES, when they're not on the job. Pick your job or your religion, either fucking one, bottom line. I'm all for fair work policies, but you need to understand that there's a time for play, and a time for work, to get the job done with efficiency and passion- regardless of human rights, Unions, labor laws, or whatever.
+Robert RiceI am in my own country and around here we have no problem with people freely worshiping according to the dictates of their own conscience. That is what we believe in in my country, the USA.
