How you can fix this amplifier that has blown mosfets while your on a budget. Most of car amps have these blown on the power side or the output side which is ...
I purchased them from Arrow Electronics. I believe they where IRF3615 and
IRF6415. I dont remember the exact numbers on them. They had a strange spec
on them of 150V DS. The P channel was hard to find. You probably can go
higher on the Drain to Source volts if needed say 200V or higher. The power
supply was 102 volts on the B+. I never went farther with this amp because
one MOSFET blew again after replacing it. On idle, the current draw was
about 2 amps.
Nicely siad and thought thur.. just showing some of what works what is a
plus to me.. Its nice to know what fets are working what and going what
derection.. I got a BD1500.1 an see sparks going from a fet to a resister
an the power supply makes a ring sound but works great.. where you think

Cen-Tech P37772 is the meter. It was on sale in October. If you don't have
a budget to buy a fluke, this is a great deal. I personally try to stay
away from Radio Shack as much as possible. There prices are too high on a
lot of there tools and parts.
Have you checked a lil chip labeled "tl702" it's kinda near the transformer
it's a ic chip. Usually when the output blows up that chip will go too and
leave the amp in protection. I had a bd500 that was stuck in protection I
had to replace that chip
AMPLIFIER REPAIR CHALLENGE: Boneyard Rockford Fosgate Punch 150 vs Juan

@69mrcrash open ur hifonics amp up. look for any burnt components or broken
solder joints look at the power mosfets, find the numbers on the front of
the mosfets. go on websites i.e digikey. research that number. buy the
replacements. unsolder the mosfets on the amp and solder, in replacement,
the new ones making sure the one you unsoldered is replaced with the
correct replacement. the main thing that goes bad on power amplifiers is
the mosfets/transistors, ifthisdoesn'tworkthenbuyanewamp

@wow1022 Lol its really not that easy. You need a lot of know how to
correctly repair a broken amp. Lots of things can be done wrong. everything
from temperature of leads to the amount of solder used. If you are going to
DIY. Please read more online about soldering. Or you could get a new
hifonics amp. Love ma brz1700.
@meade916 Have you ever herd of the linear power earcandy van? This was
back in mid to late 90's. Had strokers in it then had polk audio subs.
Thats who tips is/was hell i dont know if they are in business still to be
honest. They did very good work back in the day.
sweet!!! them old RF amps were called cheater amps!!! cuz they always
benched with more power than they claimed!!! then a bunch of no good copie
cats started throwing out a RF name that was crap!!! blue logo vs red logo
red is real deal blue is cheap crap!!!
I like that version of punch 150 with the single seperate rectifiers those
were the last of series with the 2N64xx outputs other than that the went
with fets for output stage i just think the bipolar output punchs sound
better.
Steve, I have a MTX amp that has the EXACT same casing as that amp you have
there. I shit you not the exact same, the back plate might be different but
the top with the logo is 100% the same but of course with a different logo
How much would you charge me to fix a phoenix gold 2500 amp. When you
connect it to the power supply and put the fuse in it pops right away. if
it were cheap enough i would ship it to you. i live all the way in
wisconsin lol
@meade916 I think you misunderstood my comment. I just found it funny that
he said it was a clean signal at almost the exact time it showed clipping.
I know he turned the gain up too high. Seriously. Get a sense of humor bro.
Now thats cool , great work, i love those series of punch amps, i still
have a punch 45. i sold the punch 150 well over 10 years ago to a family
member and i think he's still rocking it. IMO the best 150 watt amp ever
made
seriously bro...im pretty strapped for cash...but i been wanting to hook up
my girls car for a while now...can ya afford any donations from your
boneyard? anything will be appreciated.thx bro...keep bangin
@BENSYARDSERVICE did you not see him bring the gain up into
clipping/distortion and then back it down? Thats called setting the gain.
Ever hear of it? God damn some people are ignorant.
@quazy50158 dbr was good at one point in time, way back when, now, nothing
but crap, my friend had a sundown 4500 sent there 4 times and the problem
still wasnt issued, theyre lazy
i miss cassettes the sound was so much warmer it actually took skill to
have a clean sounding system not just expensive subs highs and amps tunning
was an art form oh well
I'm pretty sure he used acetone to clean the corrosion? I seen this in some
amps I've bought from ebay lol very nice work I have a punch 45 that needs
repair...
I HAVE A HIFONICS BRUTUS AMP 1500 WATT RMS. THE HIFONICS LIGHTS UP BUT THE
POWER LIGHT ON THE SIDE OF THE AMP DOESNT COME ON! DO YOU KNOW WHATS WRONG
WITH IT?
ok so im kinda new to the whole car audio stuff but i have a polk audio dxi
12 inch sub and 2 rockford fosgate p1's 10 inch what a good size amp to
have
@BENSYARDSERVICE sorry bro, youtube users have ruined part of my sense of
humor. I dont know when the hell you guys are joking and when you are
serious.
looks like he changed all the power MOSFET/Transistors, alot of times those
are the ones that cause problems with amplifiers
