This is one of a series of videos provided on Pulmonary Function Testing to
assist testing sites in the demonstration to subjects PFT procedures.
Enjoy!
tidal volume is the passive volume air needed for a resting inspiration (
or it can also be measured on expiration). A tidal volume times the number
of breaths per minute is call minute volume. Tidal volume minus physiologic
dead space times the number of breaths per minute is Alveolar Minute
Ventilation. Inspiratory Reserve volume is the maximum amount of volume
inspired above the tidal volume inspiration.
Functional Residual Capacity is the maximum amount of volume exhaled beyond
the tidal volume exhalation. Residual Volume is the amount of volume left
in the lungs after a maximum exhalation. Hope this helps...may be I can do
a video on it.
