I'd like to see a review of the Tilt Table. Very curious on how accurate and repeatable the cuts will be with it.

+Ronald Walters My new Byrnes table saw is getting shipped next week. I decided against the tilt table and will try to make a dedicated sled for the the 45 degree cuts I need. I'll let you know how it works out.

+dlr dlr I do not have the tilt table. Do a google search and you will find some reviews with comments about it. Some people don't think too much of it... but you can't believe everything you read on the internet either. The saw itself is very solid and very usable... although a bit expensive. I do have the taper jig and while it is well made, I have not personally found a comfort level to actually try to use it.

I don't know... I admire the quality of the "machine", as I can see in the video, but it looks more like a toy than an instrument you can do things with. What can you do with this machine that you can't do with a full size one? I always dreamed with a high precision saw, that you could do small and highly acurate cuts with, but I always thought of a 7 to 9" blade with a 1 HP motor, a micro finished table and a dead acurate fence and miter slot - Not a 4" blade and a 1/3 HP ? motor. Pardon me inquiring and I know you are a serious diy and you must have a reason to prioritize the purchase of this toy over so many other tools that I am sure you will like to have So my question is : why did you buy this expensive toy?

+Roger DC Just Google "Byrnes Table Saw"

Good for you - you convinced me.As I said I would like the same level of quality of manufacturing on a 7" saw.Do you have a link to the manufacturer?

+Roger DC Men and their toys! :-) Weighing in at 28 lbs and spinning a 4" carbide blade at 3450 RPM, a toy it is not. Treat it as a toy and it will quickly and easily remove a body part. This is best appreciated by people building model airplanes, model ships, and the like. Many people do not have room for a full size table saw. It is quiet enough that this can probably be run in an apartment (without the shopvac) and not disturb neighbors. You can do everything on this saw that you can do with a full size table saw, but it is easier and safer to make small pieces with this saw. I owned a Dremel table saw for many years and built many radio controlled airplanes using it, but the Dremel table saw was cheaply made and grossly under powered which made it potentially dangerous to use. This saw will pay for itself fairly fast if you are using expensive exotic hardwoods. A full size table saw usually makes a 0.125" cut compared to this 0.055" cut. Watch some of my videos on making the Senior 20 Organ (making the pipes). When I ordered the wood for making pipes for 2 organs I calculated my wood purchase based on using my full size saw. Later, I purchased this small saw. When I was done I had roughly 1/4 of my basswood and mahogany left over. That is a huge difference in wood not wasted due to sawdust and you are able to get more parts from a given width stock. And the repeatability of precision cuts, with micrometer adjustable increments, is beautiful. These people make other small precision tools for modelers as well. And why did I purchase this expensive saw? Because I could!

Will this help with the rip cuts that I need for picture frame rabbets?

+Jack Kane You can make any cut with this saw which you would on a full size saw... just on a smaller, more accurate scale.

This looks better than the now extinct PREAC Precision Miniature Saw. Question! What is the arbor or blade hole diameter. I am about to pull the trigger on this saw but need to know this small detail. Thanks! Sorry I just saw the arbor hole for the carbide blades is 5/8"? I am planning on using only slitting blades as I currently do on my PREAC.

+JTOOLMAN1949 I believe the arbor is 1/2". The blades came with an adapter ring. Seems like the blade has a 3/4" hole in it. I'm not around the shop at the moment. You should google the saw and check out all of the specs.

It's a beautiful saw, but for the price, I think I would rather make a precision "small parts" cutting jig for use on a regular table saw. I have plans for one of these in one of my Woodsmith magazines, and I think the total parts cost is under 100$ plus various bits of plywood and hardwood scraps.

Probably a lot of model builders would argue that decision on several points. But, to each his own.

Thanks so much Ron. You are a fantastic resource for the rest of us. It was so good to see this review as I've ordered one here in Europe and am waiting on it - sea freight. This saw and his other tools seem to have almost legendary status in the model ship building world. One gent told in a forum how he moved his saw to the loft one day, but for some reason it slipped and fell the entire way to the cellar, smashing a banister on the way. The blade guard was broken, but the saw worked perfectly, not even a vibration. Now that is quality.

+Bill McKee A week or so ago I gave it its best workout since I have owned it. In one afternoon I cut 136 pieces for 34 pipes to 1/2 mm & 1/4 mm dimensions (using a ruler and magnifying glass) and everything looked pretty darned good. With clean square cuts the pipes went together quickly and easily. Yesterday I cut 68 pieces of mahogany for the covers. Very little waste with that thin kerf blade. I am sure you will like yours.

with pleasure , i like knives , i have a few blades and i always wanted to review them , and to show details and features that can only be seen when you hold them in your hands. I know that 9 min of slide show pictures is a little too much but if you are about to spend 70 euros(like i did) or 90 $ on it, you would like to see it in detail.

hey quakeman. Nice blade. I'm a sucker for a good spear point. Thanks for sharing.
