Almost evryone its insane or what? You know the thickness of the rotors? For what I'm seeing that rotor brakes don't need to be changed. And yes that should be make by machining but that works too because he's taking just the edge of that and yes making that turns the car safer, you dont want the brake pads to be solder to the rotor because of that edge, my machined rotors made 50000km and still on the car no problems what so ever. Try to search instead of talking shit.

The pads don't touch the lip of the rotor. Why they would where uneven.

This is all wrong I could tell you right those rotors didn't come out even by them not coming out even the pads are going to where uneven and there to wear out faster plus you need to make sure there not under spec cause that could cause over heating or brake fade

Just fucking pay $10-15 bux and have it done correctly?

+djsonicc i would have brought them in but on Sunday not many places turn rotors this days anymore and honestly i live in the middle of no where, gotta do what you gotta do to survive and honestly this method works just fine other wise i wouldn't posted this video up :)

Grate video. Don't mind all the haters. Ha ha ha. I will be doing this to my Rotors soon, along with dimpling and painting my rotors and calipers. Then replacing the brake lines and a full brake flush. I recently lifted my vehicle and I want a safe ride when I go mall crawling ha ha ha. But yes grate video. Next time do this on a work bench with it attached to a bench grinder and the axle.

Attached to the bench grinder AS the axle.

the amount of stupid here is appalling, if ever there was a "what not to do to brakes" video made, this would be it. you apparently know nothing about how a brake system works... now truly we need ppl like this to hit trees and wipe themselves out, but its that poor unsuspecting family your gonna kill that i feel really bad for... From an automotive technician of almost 15yrs. DO NOT DO THIS TO YOUR BRAKES EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! SMH...

It is not the wrong way. The big difference of modern machining is that it is much more precise, effective, easier, and safer because there will be no accident of taking off too much surface.

+Merric Hoang, i guess i stand corrected, there really is only so much u can do when tryin to educate an idiot...u keep doing what ur pops told you to do in the 70's with a toothless grin, thinking that u have a clue and ill be happy to continue doing things the right way, and making a pretty good living correcting the damage people like you do to thier cars...

I have the lack of knowledge on automotive tech? Coming from a guy that say this technique doesn't work and completely dangerous? You don't even know this was a basic old school technique. Hah. Funny.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
there is good and bad in every industry around the world, but trying to equate a bad expirence to an industry norm is just niave. but again, none of this has anything to do with your total and complete lack of knoledge on automotive tech...
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-12xBjkrPzsM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACE/ltY_gWs9DqI/photo.jpg?sz=64
Maybe only happen in California. I'm not the only one have bad experienced with dealership technician. You can find many terrible encounter on auto enthusiast forum when people brought their car into the dealer for service. Some of the bad experience were just unbelievable. Something you never thought it can be possible.

+Merric Hoang again we need to work on your horribly broken english, i have no idea what your first language might be, but when u cant seem to formulate a complete thought in your comments its really difficult to educate you past the ignorance you show when it comes to Automotive technology. no certified tech with 15years of expirence and several certifications is going to have trouble with oil changes or obd2 diagnostic work especially with something as simple as diagnosis of a missfire. again in the spirit of educating your ignorance on the subject, spark plugs rarely are the cause of cylinder miss. the spark plug failure is the result of a fault somewhere in the system. a misfire by definition has nothing to do with the spark plug sparking in the first place its a lack of firing condition due to the over abundance of HC's within the cylinder. also the "CEL" condition for anyone savy of the industry or any working understanding of the industry would refer to it as a "MIL". furthermore, a back yard or shade tree "machanic" such as your self really needs to listen more than talk in situations like this...

If it work where we flying down the unpaved narrow mountain road or long journey or where some of us drive back and forth all day long for living, then I'm pretty sure it work in the city where you're constantly crawling. When it come to machining, I would have to come to professional because I don't have access to tools not the knowledge to handle those tools. But that does t mean this technique don't work. However, I do agree with you that this is not an ultimate and not 100% safe. To do this, you need to have experienced and a very very steady hand.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Merric Hoang , now i may not be savy on what goes on in third world countries but i feel its pretty safe to say what is acceptable in the bush is very different from waht is acceptable in a decently populated area, where the condition of ones vehicle may also effect the safety of others. Your attempts to question my knowledge are kinda humorous. again i state the methods used in this video are illadvised and incorrect and can be extremely dangerous, and will also cause premature wear and possible failure of the brake system especially in highway conditions.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-12xBjkrPzsM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACE/ltY_gWs9DqI/photo.jpg?sz=64
Let me repeat myself since you didn't read it earlier. This technique and similar is still being used as of today in other countries where they don't have stubborn to go spend money on fancy tools to call themselves a pro. This technique work just fine. Yes. It doesn't work as great as machining since machining is much more precise. However, it doesn't make this a fail. Machining is similar principle come from this basic with a much more refinement. Not everyone live in the city. Not everyone have the access to machining.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-12xBjkrPzsM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACE/ltY_gWs9DqI/photo.jpg?sz=64
LoLz. Now you say I make an invalid point by giving you some real world examples? And asking me if I know how the system work while you clearly declare you're lack of basic fundamentals mechanic work? Funny.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Merric Hoang , first off we need to work on your ability to form complete thoughts in sentances, secondly you seem horribly uninformed and are now making random points that are completely invalid. Do you actually have even the slightest understanding of how a brake system works or for that matter any of the complex systems on todays vehicles? holding a wrench for pops as he worked on his 1972 ford pinto does not classify you as a technician. please do some research or at least have a vague general understanding of the systems you speak of before lending your ingnorance to this conversation...
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-12xBjkrPzsM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACE/ltY_gWs9DqI/photo.jpg?sz=64
Because a lot of so-called technician these days getting certificate just for showing up to class without a mechanic clue. Evidence? Many dealership technician are certified technician, yet, they even screw up a simple oil change. Don't know how to adjust the tension on parking brake. Can't identify a misfired because the CEL is on and off and they can't pull a code. The engine was obviously sound misfire and cyl 4 wasn't sparking. This simple technique is still use today in 3rd world country. And? Their cars ran just find around their back country road where steep and narrow hill.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Wow you sir are dangerously stupid and ignorant ontop of it. I guess that's the theme of the day though, why trust a veteran of the industry with formal training and certifications who does this for a living when some idiot doing this in his driveway sincerely thinks he knows better. The level of stupid out there never fails to amaze me...smh
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-12xBjkrPzsM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACE/ltY_gWs9DqI/photo.jpg?sz=64
Obviously you didn't learn anything in your 15 yrs of work. What a shame.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-rb1exnAqg5M/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAyXw/e18E-APIRCE/photo.jpg?sz=64
You can't just say it won't work till you try and see for yourself.
