The title of the video is 'GoPro Highlights Final Day' because they sponsor
the event as they did with Pipeline, not because the video uses a majority
of GoPro images. Don't get me wrong, I love GoPro's and have used them
abundantly while bb'ing in the Canary Islands, but IMO, videos that mix the
images to an equal level are the best, not where only one type of image
dominates. That said, I obviously understand that GoPro wants to get their
product shown as much as possible. Not even criticizing
Wow people are fucking stupid.... GoPro is sponsoring the entire tour,
therefore there will be two styles of edit that come out for every comp.
People need to realize this was one of the sickest contests ever and the
footage wouldn't be done justice if thrown into a rushed edit. The IBA will
realease one of their sickest edits tomorrow. Cry more about the live feed
than the highlight reel. If you want to see what happens...watch the comps
if a guy is in the water(depending on the break.) at a beach break for
example the camera man will get in the way at some point and will
compromise the possible score for the rider, also if a guy is on the beach
it doesnt give you the full effect of what it is like for the rider. yea
you get a good perspective from the beach but you dont get to see what its
like for the rider
No. It says in the title 'GoPro IBA New South Wales South Coast Crusade' -
Meaning they sponsor the event. Then they continue on with a second part
'"GoPro Highlights" Final Day' which clearly signifies that this will be an
all out video on the GOPRO FOOTAGE. I hope you now understand why everybody
is calling you/thinking that you are an idiot, including myself.
Not saying it isn't, but IMO, videos of just back shots from GoPro's get
stale pretty fast. It's impressive the first dozen times but then it gets
overdone to much. Keeping it mixed equally with in-water and shore images
is the best. But of course, I didn't know they posted Gopro exclusive
videos when I posted my first comment.
That just blew my mind. Watch it on 1080p, full screen, with the volume up.
How do they keep the water droplets away? I have a Hero 2 with standard
housing and even with an application of RainX and spitting on the cover all
the time most of my footage comes out obscured by the water droplets.
That's why the title of the video is "GoPro Highlights Final Day".
Seriously, learn to read before you just start criticising. They put
together a GoPro package and a normal package. The normal one isn't out
yet. On another note, Lester is what this sport needs. Case closed!
Why does everyone get so butthurt? lol It was a little mistake, nothing
more. Jesus. Watch out, opinions get you labeled. I haven't been keeping up
with this year, and only watched one day at Pipeline, I'm not exactly sure
on how the whole thing is going, so chill out.
Stop whining if u don't like ur don't watch it... And it clearly says in
the title gopro footage... We're lucky to have gopro as a sponser that
gives such great footage and funding... If u don't like it nothing's
stopping u from not watching it
Amazing footage. Great work guys and thank you to GoPro for getting
involved! I hope to see GoPro and other companies get into bodyboarding
even more in coming years. Let's prove them that it was a wise decision -
send them an email of thanks!
I know GoPro is the sponsor and all, but seriously, they need to cut down
on the GoPro images on the riders backs. A couple are great, but almost the
entire video? It's k. I prefer views from camera guys in water or from the
shore.
gtfo noob the beauty of the wave in in third person view and they showed
alot of other views like swimmer in the water recording them going by so
shut the fuck up and go play with ur little toys on the shore
any tips on getting the chest mount tighter on your back? mines comes loose
from duck diving and i have to re-position when im ready. looks like they
have just a chest mount and a floaty on this video..
I checked with GoPro (re: the back-strap) and they responded quickly, and
were really helpful, but advised it was one not of theirs. If anyone knows,
pleas post. Perhaps the IBA can help?
Stop complaining about the coverage, far out. These events are being held
in remote locations nowhere near an active internet connection other than
satellite. In order to upload anything, they need to head back to wherever
it is they are staying to actually use an internet connection... and that
can't happen until the day is over and done with. I live in the area, I
know where everything is being held, and I can tell you it's kinda
difficult to pull out an ethernet cord at any of these breaks.
The reason it isn't broadcast live is because it is being held in remote,
rural locations. There simply isn't adequate technology available to
broadcast a high-quality live stream of the event, thus they are doing a
full broadcast at 10pm AEST each night of competition. I agree they need a
better highlights package which could perhaps have narration/commentary
that gives a quick rundown of each heat, but I think you need to relax a
little and think about why it isn't being broadcasted live.
Never promise something you cannot deliver. REPUTATION is key in any
business. How can you ask a company to associate its name (aka REPUTATION)
with another company that has a bad reputation? This was promised on IBA's
Facebook page "- watch it tonight on the delayed broadcast expected to
start at 10pm AEST" NOT DELIVERED. NOT EXPLAINED WHY. "GoPro Highlights up
at 10pm with a full highlights package dropping early morning." IS A 2 MIN
VIDEO WHAT YOU WOULD CALL A FULL HIGHLIGHTS PACKAGE?
OK, first off all there's some SICK riding and footage in this clip.
However I do agree that the lack of live coverage is disappointing. I argue
that the guys have done the best possible job in the circumstances. But the
thing is these comps should really be more accessible to viewers. Live
footage and punctual highlights are critical. Maybe comps shouldn't be held
at such remote locations? Places like Canary Islands and Arica are perfect
for waves AND live coverage. More of that maybe?
My 4 siblings and I were raised by my dad alone. I ate crap from the street
because we didn't have money to buy food. I have two master's degree and
will have a PhD from one of the top 50 universities in the world. I
published my work in scientific journals that you wouldn't even know how to
read. So, don't give me that shit. If you knew how to use your brain, you'd
see that I don't speak only for myself. See the "thumbs up" in my comment
and all the negative comments on IBA's FB page.
trust me no sponser will be upset with what was done only people upset are
dead set kooks like you that neva put effort into anything and are just
hanging to bag stuff out when in reality if yous had a look at the effort
yous put in to just go for a surf it wouldent even be conpareable to the
effort these guys (a lot volunteering there time un payed) just to make
this happen seriously fuck up dickeads
you realy have no idea mate and these other people whinging about the
effort put in to this event all the lads are in the dark today at 5am while
its raining and 10 deg setin up tents driveing back and forward down sum
boged out 4x4 track carting gear back and forward seting generators tents
speakers camers while you lay in bed ready to wake up and winge about a 12
hr delay on the feed
Do you work for IBA? Because you seem to know a lot? But let me ask you
this: WHERE IS THE FIRST DAY'S FULL BROADCAST? Have you seen it? I'm not
complaining because it's not live. I'm complaining that event after event
the IBA promises to deliver one thing and they don't do it. The let us all
hanging. These guys are very unprofessional and may soon loose the GoPro
sponsorship.
Meh you bunch of whingers!!!! Would you rather have a live webcast feed
from 1ft slop that is an embarrassment or no live webcast at epic 4-6ft
Nuggan that truly showcases bodyboarding to the world at its highest
potential? Props to Alex Leon for having the balls and deciding to have the
event in the best waves possible. Impatient keyboard warriors these days...
I do understand how hard it may be. The problem is that every event has a
different excuse. And I cant'stress this enough, IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO
DELIVER, DON'T FOOL US SAYING YOU WILL. If people stay quiet, as you
suggest, then everybody would think that IBA is doing a great job.
Criticism and freedom of speech, NOT SILENCE, is what moves us forward.
This is the shittiest coverage of an IBA event ever! Thanks GoPro! If
you're not going to broadcast it live, at least make a more complete and
contextualized highlights video. Plus, don't post the results before the
video. Man, you guys need to study about these things. So amateurish!
A lot harder to cover a mobile event than you'd realise. Everything our
asking for will come in time, don't get your knickers in a knot. It's free
content after all... unless you'd prefer forking out the money to go watch
it on the day i'd be quiet ;)
big mistake.... the sponsors arnt going to get the coverage they want, and
next time round they wont pay to hold the event because they arnt getting
much out of it. youl end up with no sponsors again. you need a live feed.
What up people, Manny V here. Not sure if my last comment posted so here it
is again. Two things: 1. Eric Apple is a great friend of mine and I think
he's doing a great job. He's got a lot history to bring to the table. 2.
Remember, its all about the riders. I think I saw one or two comments about
the riders here. You all are better than this. By the way, my money is on a
new face to take the win. Who do you got?
