Yep i have one but the 0 OHM adjustment is out of spec. reading 0.4ohms on the test leads. yes i have verified the leads, they are fine. opening the meter i find 9 small vari resistors used in manufacture to set up the meter... QUESTION Which one adjusts the 0 ohms range. im not going to touch any that will upset voltage or current measurement so i need to know exactly which pot does what, any body know?? as uni-t don't seem to want to give out that info...

same thing both UT50C's read on 200 ohm scale 0.3R on a dead short using high quality short leads . for a little extra money buy a fluke. been looking for the same info about which variable resistor does what, even sent an email asking for a schematic , but not even a reply back.

Brilliant idea for a video series..!!! Will be following this set very closely if you go ahead with it. Have been wanting to learn this kind of stuff for quite a while now, even bought myself a soldering iron and a few tools a while back so hopefully with your instruction I might actually get some use out of it lol. Great video, well made and relatively easy to follow, just the way I need it. Many thanks Sir.

Great video mate. Just wanna ask a quick question. I have 2 power supplies, one going to the Megadrive 2 & one going to the 32x. Would it be possible to slice the end off one of them & attach it to the other so 1 power supply powers both machines?

Interesting video, mate. As you said like 2 months ago, I got a multimeter just a few weeks ago, and it's a relief to have one. Makes the job much easier. Guess videos on other sort of tools would be awesome as well! Cheers buddy! =D

Technically it would work, but for how long would be another issue - the power packs aren't rated for high load and running the two devices is likely to stress it and shorten its life by an un-definable amount...

Although this video hasn't garnered many viws, it certainly is very useful and appreciate. These "Tools of the Trade" videos are excellent for novice modders. Keep it up.

@shaurz - Using Ohms isn't a prob at all and is a great method of testing.. With a buzzer you can keep a closer eye on what your probing, but either method is sweet :)

this should be done by a licensed electrician, not by the home owner, if they do not know what they are doing they will electrocute themselves, I did not hear you say that you should have a licensed electrician.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-XZUSCz8Qrrw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAE4/aPNMNykotbM/photo.jpg?sz=64
You do not need to be licensed to work on your own home. I believe that is the whole point.

My breaker that works for my hot water heater is lit red. It is in the on position but I have no hot water-what is wrong with it?
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-c2QSU6MiAm4/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAB_Q/p1P6lO56Ncc/photo.jpg?sz=64
Gotcha. If it trips again after reset there is a dead short. Water heaters don't last like they used to.

I have a question, when I am turning my dishwasher on after few minutes my breaker shuts down, and have to wait real long to re-set the breaker.... Any advise?
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-LqRDK2fQcPI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/Bi8Phs9Oa2Q/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Ejaz Akbar it's most likely due to short-circuit , and it doesn't shutdown immediately it takes few minutes because there is somewhere 2 wires(phase and neutral) which have plastic shells melted due to overheatingwhile you are using dishwacher , so that the leaking current from phase to neutral increase gradually and wires overheat more and more until insulation becomes 0% and consequently you have a full shortcircuit causing breaker shutdown
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Rf9OSIUL7JU/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAA0M/m9vbn9-5UOw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Ejaz Akbar first...IT MEANS ONE OF TWO THINGS...#1. Replace the braker...once a braker is forced to close, from being over heated, or drawn, it is not longer as reliable, in my eyes and....#2 Since your braker is new, try your dishwasher again and see if it brakes..If it does, you have a dishwasher wiring problem, or the water/draining pump is full of water, or over heating...You need to call a professional, from this point forward, there is nothing you can do, except to replace wiring, or the washer...Sometimes the pump can be replaced, but new dishwashers are cheap and will save you a lot of cash on electricity and water usage...The worst case is you will need a new braker, for sure, could need a new washer, and if you were scamed, undersized wiring was used for a dishwasher, which should be on its own dedicated line, and braker, meaning, just the washer is on the braker line..No joke here, water, electricity, and small wiring is no joke and can kill kids, and most adults...You are in over your head

Hi I have a portable air conditioner and when the washer and or dryer is on the circuit breaker trips around 15 minute but it the portable is off is circuit does not trip, can you help me
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Rf9OSIUL7JU/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAA0M/m9vbn9-5UOw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Mark Williams you have the same problem...Washer, dryers, aircon, garbage disposals, all belong on their own circuit with own braker, regardless what uncle bubu told you...Aircons, are 30 amps, alone you are over taxing the wiring as well
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-eCpSy69VlvE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAPM/awVbVxuybqI/photo.jpg?sz=64
hey I have a question, in my kitchen I have a GFI out but it reading 88volt but when I went and check the breaker box all the line are reading the normal voltage 120 , I am wondering where cause the the Voltage drop, tite in up all the connection at the panel box
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Rf9OSIUL7JU/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAA0M/m9vbn9-5UOw/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Alimamy Sesay GFI's are known for getting tired...I would buy a new one, and start from there...They are bulky and difficult to remove and install, so I would hire someone to install it for you...If the same thing is read, around 88Volts, then you could have a nail in your romex line..Not much you can do about that, except to rip out all of the walls, from point A to point B
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Ok have questions dryer not heating have replaced both the breaker and outlet and its a new dryer with new cord. I am getting 108 volts on each side at breaker and at outlet. When I put the tester on both sides I get no reading at all?? The electric com pay says I have good volts at the meter what do I do or try next??
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-SLAAYhswL_0/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACI/lDDPC5xW694/photo.jpg?sz=64
Huh well since you getting 108 at the breaker and the outlet, assuming it's a 120v 20amp breaker Than you sir have a bad line that's coming in. Simple corrosion at the connection on the street side most likely. It happens to bad weather n improper isolation when it was first connected. Estimate on a Professional 450-500$ possibly less, no more.
