Measuring illegal surveillance with Radar in Germany Nothing is more ridiculous than Germans blaming the US for illegal surveillance. See my homepage, chapter Messungen-->Messungen der Überwachung mit Radar, click the flags to translate. There you find hundreds of measurings we made in Germany. We did not find one place without radar signals. They are similar to the signals used by the military CARABAS battlefield radar. Also see the case of Gustl Mollath who was put in a nuthouse for reporting tax fraud committed by "important" members of society

@damnham Winston, my hat is off to you and the other brave airmen and civilians who worked aboard The Texas Towers. You, sir, were a brave airman as were your brothers. It is sad that so much of our Cold War history is forgotten or neglected. You and your fellow towermen were unigue -- airmen assigned to a metal island on stilts in the ocean. I am sorry those brave men lost their lives. And, I hope that your mission, their sacifice, and your history is not forgotten.

My father was on the AKL-17 which was at the Tower 4 when it perished into the ocean!! He lost all the men he was friends with, and to watch such a thing, he was never the same, yes I also feel it was terrible to leave it on 3 legs, why did they let it get to be called "old shaky" why didn't they fix it! what a loss to all.

What a cool video ! these towers were neat but they also were insufficiently built and cost the lives of 28 airmen.. but I would have loved to serve on one back in the day..

After #4 went down, they were all removed or dynamited. It was a stupid idea to put that thing out in the North Atlantic, on three legs.

All towers were operated by the Air Force. Note USAF on the back side of the tower. Winston Rogers, Texas Tower #3 1961 - 1965

Another note, the AKL-17 was a Naval Ship but Otis Airforce Base was the closest to Tower 4

I thought that all of the Texas Towers were operated by the Air Force, NOT the Navy!

2259 UTC radar on 7 November shows straight lines of precipitation after jets dump chemicals

Note the straight lines of precipitation develop and fan out south of Providence as seen on NWS radar.
