Driver vs Cyclist (cyclist road tax) and cycle tracks
Me talking about the law the rules and regulations on road tax for push bikes and use of cycle tracks and myth about mandatory cycle track *cough* no such ...
@unapro3 The argument is not to harass cyclists but to pressure your
council who you pay council TAX to so that the roads can be safer for
cyclists because your son or daughter at some point will most likely ride a
bike. The roads are a shared resource we all use.and all pay for with
Council TAX so its there responsibility to provide a safe working model
that we can all live with and use safely. Passing the book to the driver is
wrong, its there responsibility to maintain the roads safe for all.
I agree with most of what you say however, there hasn't been a link between
car tax & road repair since the 1920's (rather than just the last 15
years), thanks to Winston Churchill. He didn't want motorists feel like
they had special rights on the roads. They have been paid for through
central taxation ever since. VED & fuel tax combined do not come close to
covering the cost of motoring when factoring in policing, accident clear
up, cost to NHS, congestion, land waste etc. Sorry to be so anal.
@unapro3 That is a brilliant comment thank you. You are correct 100% with
it being too dangerous. The roads are the only way the public can get from
A to B, to say that the only way to get around is by must have a car is
silly. Walking and cycling must be allowed. A roads and some B roads are a
no go not suitable. You know as well as i do You cant always get A to B
without an A or B road Motorways are 60mph limit, A and B roads at times
are also 60 so due to bad councils they load it on drivers
@dalbenton Yup i keep hearing this. it cant happen as this TAX to kg
emissions rule comes from Brussels not the UK. if left to the UK we would
go back to horse power governed rate. Both of which can not effect
cyclists. Drivers need remember there license teachings as pedestrians and
cyclists have right of way meaning drivers can loose there license on the
spot, pretty scary really. There actually going to tax our rubbish by the
kg, thats in the pipeline. rfid chips are already being installed
@dalbenton I could not agree more. My friend is Disabled he has had 3
surgeries on his spine to save him from paralyzation and they worked but
they have just forced him back into work which he well soon realise after
all this tax he will end up broke just like me. Working for nothing. it is
insane peoples money has already run out were in poverty there assuming the
avg wage is 30k its not even close. To top it off i never voted them in who
did?. 43 million a day to Brussels need we say more
@mr420B It is indeed, there version one of the beta line i designed in 2003
that performed at 132db peak and allowed for 48 - 95db rms between 100 to 1
metre on all frequency's ranging on 400hz to 25khz the lower frequencies
are handled by a separate design as bass needs its own control and phase
timing. so yes Patent tech i designed years ago that works outstanding for
fat sharp crisp sound over a 100m X 40m area inside or out. System peak
power to drive it was 6.5kw small but powerful.;)
@fireicer even if we go back to horse power the Govenment end up charging
us Hourse tax next...........even Rubbish Tax,how silly is that, dont know
about you,the way I see it,I dont like our new Govenment,hes a
foooooooooooool of him self, for what hes doing to the UK,its well
scary, wrose thing kicking most people of benefits getting them back in to
work, when wages are low, living costs storming up,and more jobs going bust
:-( and more taxes being created, end up paying tax to breath next
Yup i agree I pay my council tax at same rate and have to buy my own bin
bags. If i need a recycle bin i have to pay extra for it even if it gets
nicked, so i can only but agree. Change your car, honda make a 2.3litre
that has less emissions than a 1.8 and is cheaper car tax seriously look
into it. the new price plan is on the DVLA website it will pay you to find
and fit car to emissions I put a link to DVLA site on tax pricing in more
info link saving some cash = more beer tokens lol
@paul4608 Well a push bike does not emmit CO2 nor does it damage the road
surface in any way, it does not litter the street with engine oil, rubber,
nasty chemicals of any kind so no one needs cleanup after a cyclist in
anyway or need reapirs to the road due to push bike damage nor does it
produce any noise polution hence Road TAX for cyclists can never be
applied. Cars have allot to answer for, they argue because they cant accept
the truth of the damage and murder there causing.
I am very thankful for the drivers-education I had growing up.. I have
never had an issue being a road user or sharing the road with other users.
Stop lights and traffic backed up, among other things keep travel time the
same. No mater had stupid a person drives. Remember, that may be someones
husband, wife, father, mother or child... Trying to keep healthy and help
the family no loose their home and pay bills. Cars don't kill - stupid
people kill.. DON"T BE STUPID!
I don't give a cracker about push bikes paying a tax but, they should have
an identifying plate and insurance when they damage property. I like how
cyclists want to share the road, but not the road rules. How many times
have you seen a cyclist ride through red lights, blocking traffic because
they're too slow, damaging cars and taking off. Just place a flat fee and
fix a plate to the bike, like motorbikes and mandatory insurance, simple
solution.
Bikes should not be on the road. It is too dangerous. It is not fair on the
car drivers to have to avoid these people. Why is it acceptable for someone
on a bike to be ON the road right next to cars whizzing past up to 110kmh
but if you are working NEAR the road you are required to wear safety
clothing, there has to be safety barriers erected and speeds dropped to
25kmh. It just doesn't make any sense.
@bred2k6 nothing is sustainable, everything has a use by date. The world at
some stage will no longer be able to sustain the ever growing ravenous
appetite of man. BUT, the basis of my point is that NOW, as it stands, it
is not safe to mix cars with cyclists. the death toll of cyclists proves
this. You can debate all you want and blame whomever you want, cyclist will
keep dying on the roads.
Am I correct in saying that the new car tax bands only apply to cars made
after the year 2000? If so surely older cars are far less efficient and
create more Co2 then newer ones, hows that saving the planet? Actually, I
think I answered my own question writing this....It would be unfair to
penalise a person for the fact they can't buy a newer car. Hmmm, just a
thought
@unapro3 Unrestricted use of the private car is unsustainable and we need
to promote cycling on roads. The more cyclists on the roads then the less
surprising seeing a cyclist will be to drivers and the safer roads will be
for cyclists - the research proves this!
@cyclenut Good one, we need more conscious and considerate good drivers
like yourself. Its more the mentality that makes a good driver rather than
the skill. it all starts in the mind before the body can put it in to
action. Well said on your comment thank you.
@paul4608 Its hard to accept that every car driver is causing the death to
themself there familly and all living things worldwide. Thats a heavy
weight on there shoulders for there lazy right to arm chair around on 4
wheels
Another problem with cycle tracks is they are usually near the curb, where
the quality of the road is much more variable, not to mention that half the
time cars are allowed to park over cycle tracks on some roads.
no such as road tax, its ved and cycles are 0 emissions so free, and by
the way its written in law that cycles have a right to use the road, cars
do not, they use it by licence
@fireicer You fail to remember that cyclist dont pay road tax and thus have
no authority to be on the road. They should have driving lessons and get a
car like a normal person
If im not allowed on the road then how the fuck should i be able to cycle
home to my dad when there is no cycle lane on any off the 2 roads that goes
to my dad
