Tip #25- Why Do We Need a Selective Service System?
See all the tips on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SelectiveServiceTips And be sure to go to //www.sss.gov for more information.
So a woman who is exempt from registering has the nerve to tell males to
register.."it's the law" well so was Slavery, So was not allowing women to
vote. So was jailing gay. So was jailing women who had abortions. This is
why i support men who have no respect for and/or discriminate against
women. This is why i have no issue with how Muslims treat women.
+Hamguy Bacon Well now i learned that since women are allowed to serve in Combat a court order may force the Selective Service Administration to start requiring women to register under penalty of law..I would like that..I am beyond sick and tired of all the bullshit women get away with in this country.
Only once did the Supreme Court (SC) rule on conscription and the 13th
amendment , in 1918. Numerous cases were brought up to the SC between 1969
- 72, but none were heard. Usually the government backed down on the
plaintiff (released him from the draft) so the cases were dismissed as they
feared the SC would nullify the draft. Who knows what a future SC would
rule.
As to women, there is no draft and the practical matter of registering is
mute. The government has a DB so why bother with this system. The
military already has your name. The whole ordeal was simply an excuse by
President Carter to thank the unions for supporting him in 1976 and as a
reward he would hire back the 12,000 employees that President Ford laid off
in 1975 when he shut down registration (closed the local draft boards).
Unfortunately for the unions there was a biased lawsuit that delayed SSS's
implementation until April 1981 and by then President Carter was no longer
the President and President Reagan nixed the idea of opening draft boards,
too expensive and he was against government expansion.
+weiberfeind The decision on who to place in combat is up to the DoD. However, all of our enemies use male only soldiers. Your idea would work as well as an all female sports team versus an all male sports team. The national women's soccer team (world cup winners) trained against HS boys' teams and travel clubs of ages 13 - 15. They did not play men's teams as even a D-3 college team would destroy them. Even coed teams do worse at the HS level where boys have not reached their full maturation level.
+Mary Ellin I forgot to add..if I had a magic wand..since the DoD now allows women in combat. What i'd do is pull all men from the front lines and force only women to be in combat zones.
+Mary Ellin The DoD now allows women in combat so I'm hoping they take it too court again to get the law changed to force women to register. I don't want Selective Service ended. I want women to go through the same process with the same threats. In Norway they recently changed the law to force women to serve like men are required too. I still hate the draft/selective service, but if it's going to exist EVERYONE has to be subject to it. THAT is equality
+Mary Ellin As to women, there is no draft and the practical matter of registering is mute ... and yet men are still required to register. I don't care if there isn't a draft. I only want women to be forced to go through the same indignity that every male has to go through when he turns 18. They may have a DB, but I'm pretty certain if they tried to force men to serve they will have an insurgency on their hands.Anyway with Selective Service, Circumcision,Obamacare(a law passed in part to lower premiums for women by forcing young man to pay inflated premiums and buy coverage they don't need)...i keep seeing on the news about Domestic Violence and Violence against women..well i'm pretty certain the animus toward women has to do with all of this.
