Tesla's greatest contribution to science was alternating current. Edison, a tinkering inventor, not a scientist, thought direct current was better. This turned into a feud which of course, Tesla won. Edison spent the rest of his days trying to discredit and hinder Tesla in jealousy. Had Tesla been allowed to complete his tower system, we might all be getting free electricity today. However, Westinghouse, upon discovering he wouldn't be able to charge people for it had the project stopped and the towers destroyed. Until that goofy hippie wrote that sorry song about him, that was the greatest injustice ever visited upon Tesla.

@Michkuty Actually you're the one who ought to read up. Wind power is not free energy. If the world were powered by wind alone the earth would slow in its rotation and weather patterns would change dramatically. If you take all the kinetic energy out of the air it would definitely harm the environment. Solar is not free in the sense that you need to still allow plants to grow. If we powered the world on solar power alone we'd run the risk of covering up too much of the surface of the earth....

I reccomend you to read about Tesla's life and about Asperger syndrome to understand that it is IMPOSIBLE for any autistic to be a conman. He had many symptoms of Asperger syndrome like OCD, his strong obsesion for electricity, his stonishing visual memory (as Temple Grandin), calculating skills, exagerated, lack of socialization...etc The problem is that he told some fantastic ideas from his mind that many people created urban myths till you should make a research to know what is really true.

I am not a Serbian and I've never heard of any of these crackpot pressure-groups such as tesla society. I am an engineer and tell you something when i look at tesla's work it's pure genius. he was way ahead of his generation. He envisioned everything that we see in the present world. If you go out there looking for materials to hate on tesla of course you are going to find them. He was Edison's competition. They even burned his workshop couple of times. Haters keep on hating. @jib1000 Now about Tesla's inventions, yes you can see all of the unclassified inventions. Go to google, write Tesla and go to wikipedia, then go to "death" section, read 3 bottom paragraphs. Now were all the papers given back? You don't get it. They won't build this kind of tower because it would make coal/oil/nuclear power redundant. People wouldn't have to pay for energy EVER. That would ruin many industries. Lol now compare it to your "big bills for Microsoft", stop being silly really ;)

Im superior technician of industrial robotics, and Im not a god of technology but I know that Marconi was a fascist that he crearly needed to use/steal several Tesla's patents to develop "his" radio patent. @Benderrr111 That's because he was an artist a musician of sorts in the field of energy. Scientists are technicians they are not able to think outside the box of their experiences, they do not attempt to try things that have never been tried before without a hypothesis first, and while they do innovate they always explore with the intent of finding a specific goal, Seldom do they wonder off the well worn path of indoctrinated knowledge. Tesla was an explorer for the purposes of discovery!

@jib1000 Umm by putting thousands of wind turbines on few hectares of land doesn't do anything, the effect is localized. Imagine that after you made that stupid claim I read and guess what? It says the effect is localized. And even if this was the case, it would have a very small implications on the speed of rotation. Besides I don't think the speed of wind changes much after turning those turbines? Its like saying the speed of water is gonna decrease after it runs through hydro turbine?

@Michkuty Scientific American did an article on it in 2008, i suggest you go and read it. Or perhaps any general science textbook. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize that the earths rotation is greatly affected by wind. I also know that solar panels don't use the same wavelengths that plants do. You fail to realize that solar panels aren't transparent i guess. If you put a plant under a solar panel it won't get any light. Guess you aren't smart enough to realize this.

Mileva jeste pomagala Albertu, ali uglavnom u dijelu koji se ticao matematike i matematickih izracunavanja. Ali cak i ona sama je priznala u svojim pismima da nije u potpunosti razumjela teoriju relativiteta i da je od Alberta trazila da joj to objasni. @Michkuty Actually the patent office has all of tesla's inventions and you can go and look them up right now. Its free to look up and you wouldn't have to pay anyone to build another tower, the problem is that it doesn't work. If it did work you'd see them everywhere. Trust me, if all a corporation had to do was build one tower and then never pay an electric bill again, Wal-mart would have done it. Not to mention Microsoft or some other rich company that uses a lot of energy.

Ideas and the implications.Things Tesla did seem probably elementary now but the initial start of it , the key, is what makes it beautiful. He didn't perfect anything but he definitely showed it's possible. He said he was merely a discoverer. Buddy I'd love to go back and forth but why don't you start doing some research on your own.

None of the ideas in this video have anything to do with the others. There's This crazy rocker that has no idea what he's talking about. There's that "sphere guy" citing an ancient greek metaphor. There's Michio Kaku talking out his ass. Sure, there's "dark energy" around, but we don't know what the hell that is, if it is energy, and if it is usable. Keep up the good work. I thought stupid people were a dying breed, i'm relieved to see they still thrive!

@jib1000 Now, let me give you an example, Tesla was able to transmit electricity wireless, noone was able to achieve this until few years back. Tell me why the hell didn't a "private individual" replicate this phenomena ages ago? I think you're an idiot here. People can't replicate many of his inventions simply because they don't understand how they work. Energy comes from the environment. According to Tesla ionosphere is full of harvestable energy.

FB is correct: Tesla was just an attention-seeking showman and ideas-thief. This worked only when he was alive. Everybody forgot him after he died. The current enthusiasm for him has no real basis, and is the result of crackpot pressure-groups such as the Tesla society and the Serbian government (which is short of Serbian heroes). Try doing a little original research, and stop parroting 'received opinion'. Who knows ... it might start a trend.

most people are not interested in nikola teslas work. they only see him as an idol and for some people to support their own newage philosophy. tesla is the deity for all forms of newage crackpottery pseudo voodoo science. why dont we make a tesla church so we can pray to him for all our electrical needs like energy crisis? if only people were interested in his technology as simple as it was, anybody can do it.

@Michkuty ...If solar panels were more efficient then maybe we'd be able to power the planet, but at the moment solar is one of the least efficient power sources out there. Absorbing to much of the sun's rays from the earths surface would also reduce global temperatures and change weather patterns. Only nuclear fusion or orbiting solar stations are going to be able to power the planet without harming it.

Tesla was a conman. Try to learn something about the history of science from proper academic sources and not from popular media. Don't agree? Ask yourself, very carefully who shaped your world-view, and can they really be trusted? You only have to look at all of the stupid scientific beliefs expressed under this vid to appreciate that the lay understanding of science is in a terrible state.

I am always curious to know what Tesla-fans think that he invented. If one believes 'science-writers' then he discovered everything from radio, through radar, to lasers. The funny thing is, if one follows academic historical accounts of the development of such inventions, his name is never mentioned. I urge you to look carefully at this matter, and not be swayed by propaganda.

"The life and Times of Nikola Tesla, Biography of a genius" By marc J. Seifer. I'm reading it now. Very wordy, but very complete. All the interpersonal stuff and non stop patent Priority battles. Goes into great detail all the people surrounding him, good and bad. And numerous letters wrote by him and to him. A must read if you want to know the man not just the machines.

Yeah no mention of him throughout school. i'm in NJ and we are 'taught' quite a lot about Edison, even shown cartoons at a young age of Edison's persistence with the light bulb. Never once did they mention Edison stole patents and royally screwed Tesla. Very strange, I wonder why history is retold the way it was on those two inventors.

However, the idea that Tesla's rumored "free energy" that derives power efficiently from the earth's natural fields is a little far fetched if it actually did exist. I'm assuming that is what you were referring to since you make the claim that the government is behind it to make us all slaves to their corporate oil barons.Those theories are also highly suspect, considering wireless transmission of energy already exists but is still very inefficient.
