Factoring the hard trinomial using "triple play"
How to use the "triple play" technique ( little bit of magic) to factor a hard trinomial. This video is the 12th out of 16 in the Factoring series. The other three series ...
i have a ? on my HW that I am totally stumped on: 6y`2 - 13y - 5. I did
your triple play method and it came out to: (6 y + 2) (6y - 15)
------------------------ 6 and neither side is divisible by 6! Please help
me! I'm desperate and this is literally the only ? i couldn't get using
this method!!! am I doing something wrong, or do I have to do something
differently to solve with - signs?? THANKS
thanks for this, its really helping, but i dont seem to get it, its the
problem, i have the right answers (she gave them to us) but i still dont
get the correct answer and i'm doing everything correctly... any other
methods that might exist? thanks again.
It's not really a hard trinomial because it has a common factor of 5. Take
out the 5 and you have 5n^2 + 10n + 20 = 5(n^2 + 2n + 4). Since there are
no two numbers that multiply to make 4 and add to make 2, you can go no
further.
Thank you sir! I finnaly get how to do this now! I think I learn more
watching your videos then I do actually in math class If you are, or have
ever been a teacher, your students are very lucky Thanks again!
