What do some of you think that adding an intercooler will make your car
faster? its only for boosted engines with kompressor or turbo..! if your
air is so hot on your N/A engine you want to mount an intercooler maby a
cold air intake is the way to go.. If you did get hp out of your N/A engine
by mounting this think weight increase + air drag... not worth it! and
longer intake pipes 2m or something.. + restrictive intercooler core +
bends and turns.. ONLY FOR BOOSTED CARS
just a reply to the person calling me a dumbass! i never said in
intercooler didnt give more power i just said it doesn't give more boost!!
i know exactly how a turbo works an what an intercooler does so please read
my comments properly before you go trying to insult me. i've been a
mechanic for 10 years so think i got half an idea what im talking about
dont you! AN THANKS TO THE NICER REPLYS LOL.
@ninja6kid 30 Hp on a 90 horse car is a 33% increase. If you ever increase
or decrease anything by 33% usually it's significantly noticeable.
Obviously it's not the most gain you can get from a bolt on, but the point
of my comment was to say 30hp on a lower horse car is a "significant"
(dictionary reference com/browse/significant) gain and it is.
@kylesdelicious Intercoolers decrease the charge temp, therefore making the
air more dense [not compressed particually] Intercoolers probably give
about 5 bhp extra, compared to just not having one at all, but not to have
one woudl be STUPID. What cossy mad said though was that the intercooler
does not increase boost, and he was right. They dont.
@cossymad85 The intercooler increases the air mass going into the engine by
cooling it down. Cooler air is more dense...so if you understand this you
understand you are increasing air volume or "boost". Maybe your gauge
doesn't read more psi, but your engine gets more oxygene to help burn fuel
and increase power.
I couldnt really give a fuck what happens after. That was not what i was
talking about, I was just explaining the purpose of an intercooler. Not the
cycle. And whats up with this shit about calling me a noob. I bet you i
know alot more on this topic than what you will ever know, since i study
this as my job.
I would never use a bolt on kit like this! Any modification made should be
followed with a Remap. As the Fuel and air will be out and this will cause
damage to the engine. I don’t really Rate HKS there products are way too
expensive or they are over here!
the turbo charger power giving actually based on his size and the gas
pressure the engine makes in it (bigger is better because it can handle
more gas) btw engine with higher rpm will gain more power from turbo
because it relises into the turbo more gas/air
Xexexexe...That is a simple turbo.I think with the intercooler you will
take about 8-10hps(a good one)and a good programming around 15-25 more
hps(depents on the cc of the car,how good programming you will do etc).So
we are talking about 50-60 more hps:).
insulting? 17 year olds??? (I just count one claiming to be 17, hmm) Yea
again, doesn't make much sense. Also, even if you got your "cars" (very
specific by the way) off work, I doubt it will be anything comparable to an
oldschool Sportscar. whatever
@cossymad85 an inter-cooler cannot actually produce more pounds of boost
but it does cool the air making it denser and that makes for a more
complete burn and more power. so no it does not make more boost pounds but
it does make them more efficient
I have two cars, one i saved for, for my whole life. And one that I drive
during the winter so I don't ruin the other one. And I garuantee you the
one i saved for my whole life will fuck over your oldschool Sportscar on
the quarter mile,....
@mustang50dominates intercoolers are used on pretty much every good
performance vehicle. not only does it give you boost but coupled with a
turbo it adds even more horsepower (not to mention it helps not kill your
engine at higher RPMs)
@NeoDeterminist well because its kinda hard to fit 2 big ass v8s in one car
and it defines unpractical. It also costs a shit load and i think the
bugatti is the worst investment u can make. Well another thing would be
there is 4 turbos running on the bugatti and modding a v8 is much easier.
So you would be the sucker here.
@NeoDeterminist ya...your logic is flawed big time. Why "waste" your time
modding a v8? WELL it's cheaper and you can get more then 1001 HP with all
that excess money. i mean they have civics making over 1000 hp now-a-days.
Now if you're talking street legal, thats a whole different story.
Of course no one expects it, its laughable. Make it to 13's to scare some
sports cars? Really? Make them laugh is what I think ya meant, consider my
5.0 did like 12s stock ha
GREAT work! Now get that down to 13's and you can start to scare some
sports cars! I'm hoping somebody comes out with a kit for the GE8... but
we'll see.
