James May does his Clarkson impression! EXTRAS - James May Q&A (Ep 20)- Head Squeeze
James rambles about barcodes and supermarkets before unleashing his perfect Jeremy Clarkson impression! How do barcodes work?
+rippspeck It is not. It's just really similar. And also you're thinking of one of the songs that play in the neighborhood/character creation view, not buy mode.
+spacecadet35 Ok. I didnt mean to act like an asshole, i do really apologize for that behavior. I guess i got a random rage behind the computer thing. god knows, but yeah. they are busy and i cant wait for the new partnership with amazoon is going to pay off. But would be cool to be able to know if this how is a youtube thing, or if its actaully part of another show.
+gamekonsoller If I knew I would tell you. And most people outside the UK don't know how busy those guys are. I am guessing it is for his Youtube series "James May's Q&A" but I can't confirm.
+Dloweification RFID can be hacked by simply using radio waves to interfere with the signal coming back from the chip. Bar codes are not as easily hacked, as you need to change the database itself, however you could print a bar code and slap one over an existing one.As far as I can tell all these two do is simply identity information, nothing beyond that, the rest is kept in the database, so really if you want to alter an information about the product without touching the physical signature, you do it on the database.
+Evi1M4chine RFID is alright.. but barcodes could still be better off. RFID can be hacked and cheated (so can barcodes) and an RFID can be more expensive. If we took a box at the grocery store, put the barcode on every side of the box then ran it through a highspeed conveyor / scanner, it would just take a picture, confirm all of the barcodes are identical then ring up the product much faster than a cashier could.
Also, bar codes are not bars and spaces. The bits are actually the distances between the changes from black to white or back. And it takes a couple of them for a single token. So the thickness of the bars/spaces is the information. And we don’t speak like that, because we use frequencies too, allowing us to stuff a hell of a lot more information into a single sound than just a single 1 or 0. If you want to speak a computer signal, try multi-band analogue modems or fax machine signals. There were people who could actually whistle some of it and get a modem/fax to start the handshake.
possibly James May's Man Lab? Not sure tho thats the only other show apart from top gear i know he hosted lol

Detroit is truely a great city that often gets picked on because no other
city of this size in the U.S. has be through what Detroit has been through.
I know for sure that detroit is a giant ready to make a BIG come back, if i
didnt know this I myself wouldnt have left a 3,000sq ft home in suburbia
for an apt downtown. I LOVE YOU DETROIT!!!
I grew up in Detroit, havent i heard this before??!? No one wants to live
there, Chris Ferchill is just a mouthpiece for upper white collar class.
Look at him he looks and sounds like a robot! I bet it ends up a casino
that no one comes to like the rest! Screw the poor working class is what he
says.
No kidding, it always angers me when i drive past the I-beams sticking out
of the ground from the underground parking lot where the Hudsons building
used to stand. I hate how Detroit destroys history that i never got to
enjoy for almost no purpose. I cant wait to see this hotel come back to
life.
I've been in there when it was abanded two times. I have always been
fascinated with what it used to look like. It is a great historic building.
When I thought they were going to tear it down in 2004, I was upset. I am
so glad it's comming back to life!!!
Hats off to the invaluable efforts of "Friends of the Book-Cadillac Hotel"
activist group, Westin, Deroit City Hall. I am glad to see this gem
preserved! You all should be extremely proud! I cannot wait to stay there!
Don't abandon the city, people. Of course there are struggles! But you're
ridiculous if you don't support the people who are trying to improve
things. This is an incredible development. Can't wait to see it completed!
I love the idea of the barrell ceiling in the Italian garden room. Luckily,
there are many land-use revitalizations going on in the area as well since
most people want a close commute to work.
This is going to be a catalyst in the comeback of downtown Detroit, the
finished project should be absolutely stunning. Detroit has destroyed too
much of its history, and needs to PRESERVE!
I bumped to Forgotten Detroit sites couple of vveeks ago and it's so good
to see that some these oldies'n goldies have made comeback. Hold on tight
to these historic, national treasures!
This is great to see and it's about time that Detroit made their historic
buildings into something great, instead if mowing them down to make useless
parking lots.
Go Westin!!! But down town detroit?..Duno i only go there if i have to.
Like jury duty last year, I had to ask a homeless man directions for a
newport..Seriously!
