Yea, but Mormon's & JW's go door-to-door. I'm not trying 2BA wet blanket;
just trying 2B practical in my thinking. Seems 2me that fewer people will
be reached walking across America talking 2them whenever you run N2 someone
than you could if you did outreaches in your home town, & you wouldn't be
sleeping in a tent on the side of freeways. It seems like there's more
efficient ways to spread the Gospel, & reach more people than they way
you're going about it - like the way Jesse Morrell does it.
I walk about 15 or so miles a day, on average. While I am witnessing to
people as I go, I'm also aiming for the big picture. Walking across America
is quite the publicity stunt so, overall, I'm bringing awareness to the
Gospel as well as I can. I encounter people everywhere I go and, for me, I
think of it as 'on the job' training. It's an exciting 'walk of faith' that
is helping me to grow as a witness while also reaching as many people as I
can. If the Mormons & JW's do it, then why can't we?
Daniel: I'm trying to understand how you're witnessing to people when most
of the walking you do is probably through areas where there's no-one around
for several miles until you get into a small town or city. Then once you
get to a city, what do you do? Stop and talk to people? It seems like you
could reach more people in your home town than you could going about it the
way you are - unless you're doing it partly for the adventure??? I don't
know. How many miles a day do you walk? Stay safe.
Truthfully, I have what you would call a 'big crowd' tendency. It's much
easier for me to talk to a crowd than it is to talk to one person at a
time. So, by doing this, I'm forcing myself to overcome that and learn to
be effective with one on one encounters. I'm talking to at least one person
every day and, in most cases, it's a lot more than that. But, I'm learning
to engage 'individuals'. Crowds are too easy. I don't have to be REAL with
a crowd but, individually, I don't have a choice.
I understand what you're saying. Crowds are easier in a sense. When you're
in front of a crowd, you start 2B an entertainer & a performer. It's less
personal becuz all UC see is the crowd, not the individuals. I think that's
what you're saying. But couldn't you accomplish the same thing (one on one
encounters) in your home town? People there need Jesus as much as people on
the other side of the country, right? ...aaannnd...you would be sleeping in
your own bed at night, not by a freeway.
"A little smellier" - LoL. I'll send you some deodorant & wet wipes. WotM
doesn't walk across America. They have specific target audiences. They go
where the people are - where they know their time will be used most
effieciently & will be most effective. I think you would reach just as many
people at home, Daniel. There must be some other reason you're doing this.
Maybe for adventure? Maybe 2C if you can walk across America? 2C the
country? I don't know. It doesn't make sense to me.
Right. I agree. But like I said, it seems that less people will be reached
walking through miles and miles of nothing than if you were at home
engaging large crowds...and you wouldn't be living like a homeless person
either and freezing your rear end off. I'm not trying to discourage you,
Daniel. I'm just trying to be realistic and practical. I pray God keeps you
safe - and warm.
"But couldn't you accomplish the same thing in your home town?" Of course.
That's the point. Hopefully, all of the Christians who tune in and see this
will be encouraged to do the same thing in their neighborhood, school,
office, etc... I'm bringing 'personal ministry' to a nationwide media
audience, pretty much like what Way of the Master does. (except I'm a
little smellier)
Of course, there's tons of ways to go out and spread the Gospel. For now,
this is the way I'm doing it. Once I'm done with the walk, then I'll
continue to reach out wherever God chooses for me to live. Preaching to the
lost is not a one time event. It's a lifestyle. And, it's one that I'm
hoping to get better at, which is one of the benefits of this trip.
Huh? An angel could not have died for our sins since angels are not God. I
never said what Daniel was doing was wrong. I just said it didn't make
sense to me to walk through miles and miles of nothing if your goal is to
reach people for Christ. I guess he can preach to the trees and the cows?
Hahahaha. I see I offended someone today. Yeeeeaaaah! LoL.
It's somewhat of a 'publicity stunt for God', if you will. Chances are,
more people will stumble across one of my videos, newspaper articles or
interviews than I could ever hope to meet up with in one on one ministry.
Other than reaching a lost and dying world, I would have no other reason to
ever want to walk across the country.
Just cause you don't understand doesn't mean it's wrong. God uses our gifts
to spread his good news! It's not a numbers game or about effiencency!
Besides Daniel doesn'tsave anyone, the spirit does that job. It's probably
more efficient to send an angel to die for our sins rather than his own
son, but that's not the point!
I read a post on here where a guy doesn't understand why you are doing
this. Didn't that happen to some guy a long time ago who built a boat in
the desert? If God says do it then just do it. May god bless you and keep
you Daniel. Let us always give Him the glory.
I don't understand what you're saying, but I'm a born-again Christian. I
just don't think walking across the country makes sense to me, and I
already explained my reasons. Read my previous comments. I'm sure I'm not
the only one who has raised the same questions.
Hopefully you'll get more media attention because they are usually just
caught up in non sense topics like brittany spears or other celebreties.
Great work Daniel! We're all proud and praying for you! Hopefully you can
pass through southern idaho.
Haha, very funny! You wanted a publicity stunt, didn't ya? I thought that
would get lots of publicity - preaching in your underwear standing on your
head...unless....you don't wear undewear??? LoL. Yea...then that wouldn't
be a good idea.
I think you should have just stayed home and maybe juggled balls standing
on your head while preaching in your underwear. That would be a good
publicity stunt for stunt, and would attract alot of attention.
Ok I wasn't sure I guess the Lord haves some do different thing's for
reasons.. His thought aren't our thoughts his ways aren't our ways after
all.. God Bless bud..
Love for Christ rarely have make sense to people without Christ Friend.. To
Christians were inspired when other look on asking Why? Great Video.. God
