If only the Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo was a real race car
//www.TFLcar.com ) The Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is what's called a "roller" in the car business. In other words a concept car without an ...
I get that it's a VGT and all, but there are a few problems.
1: If you crash at "300 MPH" (Its only 240) in THAT position then
everything in your body would just compress and you would pretty much die.
(Yes, whiplash would add to that but you get the point)
2: How the hell does this accelerate? You're using all four wheels for
steering. I can understand braking, but not accelerating.
3: GODAMN AUTOMATIC
... Yeah. I'm making a paper mache car with 7 wheels that weighs 300
pounds, it runs off unicorn farts and is shaped like a komodo dragon. Chevy
contacted me about this event, but since I didn't have time to finish it in
time they told me they'd use the laser video game car this year and put me
in the next Detroit Auto Show. Oh yeah, and it's going to be called
"Whistler's Mother".
this is so fucking stupid. Its a video game, why would anyone obsess over a
fake car in a video game. their is a reason why im playing grand turismo
and not mario carts. I could just as easilly come in and make my own car in
the game, making it a cube with a vacuum generator creating a vacuum around
the car to make it have 0 drag. I could say it has 11 billion horspower a
top speed of 299,792,458 m/s. and does 0-60 in 0.5 Planck seconds
(0.5*10^-42 seconds) and its an conventional ICE but uses anti
matter-matter annihilation instead for fuel. and some how even with its 0
drag it still produces 18 million tones of down force and weight 7 kgs
including the driver because of an anti inertia system.
now what ever my explinatino of how it does it, I could literally say its
powered by hope and dreems, and it will still be the fastest car in the
game, and for some reason people will still like it.
+martinshoosterman using heat to expand the air to propel a vehicle isn't anything new. It's what they use in military jets. Except they heat the air with fuel jet. The fact is there are so many lasers and so many substances that can be heated by a laser (filament). This video wasn't specific at all. They said "laser" and "filament", and we certainly don't know (as a species) everything there is to know about laser physics.
+bucketslash11This is the only video I could find of small models being driven by LASER.//www.dailymotion.com/video/xhqahh_laser-beam-powered-propulsion-spacecraft-lightcraft_techThis is a far cry from installing a LASER in a car and having it propelled by its own on-board power system. The batteries would have to weigh a tonne or two at least.
+Ikenna .A it simply is not possible. all those were either animations labeled as simulations even though they simulated nothing. and a couple of fake videos which people have proven to be fake. look at all the science behind it, its simply impossible.
+martinshoosterman and how about the wikipedia links i providedincluding a picture of a lightcraft being susupended by the rapid expansion of air and a statement that said it was a successful experimenti'm sceptical to wether it would work on a larger scale BUT judging from the lasers position and the shrouds position this car would generate thrust backwardsit's not braking the laws of physics in any way
+Challenger160 some video games sure this would belong in. but granturismo is supposed to be a realistic track game. the best thing about the game is how realistic the driving physics are (for a game) tbh its more of a driving simulator than a game. this model should be made because its a piece of art, not because its a car that should be made. anyways the people who said that planes were impossible had no backing for that. a statement like that is like a person today saying that aliens dont exist, warp travel is not possible, or we will never visit another star. its pure pessimism, not science. and people who thought the world was flat, only thought that because their was no other theory. 2 or 3 thousand years ago when the theory came around that it was round, most people accepted it immediately. im not being pessimistic about this existing. Im simply looking at the tech applying my knowledge of physics and realising that how they explain this car to work, simply is not how the world works. and I truly don't mean any offence when I say this, but its very ignorant to say that advancements in tech will make this possible.
+martinshoosterman mate I think you got the two mixed up. If this car should be in a place for art then shouldn't it belong in a video game? Because you seem to be trying your hardest to convince people that they should not believe anything like this should be possible, yet you say it should remain as a real world model which, as you put it, simply is not possible. Then what would be the point in making it real if it runs on hopes and dreams? I think you need to lighten up and accept that it is in gran turismo and it's there to stay. Plus I garuntee you in the next 30 years, civilisation would look back at your POV and think "what a moron". People thought we would never fly or believed the earth was flat, yet we look back and realise just how un-educated they really were.Never dis-credit an idea because that idea may just change the world. But thats just my two cents...
+martinshoosterman take a chill pill dude. You are way over on this one, you just keep on saying 2 different things like you hate this car becouse of people on the internet and you love this car becouse of gm.
+martinshoosterman "ok kid. just keep believing what ever you want to."i've just provided you links about this sort of thing, including an article about the small scale experiments which specificly states that it WORKEDstop being so ignorant and do research before commenting on something
+Challenger160 I love the creative aspect of it. belive me I spent quite a while looking at every detail of this beautiful machine. as a piece of art its 10/10. its an expression of a childs imagination in a pseudo realistic fashion. what I hate is when people look at it and say what an amazing piece of machinery, or think that this is the future. especially when I try to explain why its not possible and they simply don't listen. and even more when they code it into a video game that is suposed to be realistic and then people treat it as if they accually made it. their is a place for art and a place for innovation. put this in a place for art and it will be at home. put it in a place for innovation that you are wasting everyones time.
+martinshoosterman 1. point to where the videos where fake, i cant see anything which gives additional thrust or any wires2. you can turn it it, apparantly you don't know how flexible cars can be built, look at the nissan pivo 23. see the mounting postition of the laser4. the laser is firing INTO the SHROUD which rapidly expands the air in a circular shap creating thrust (the laser fires into the golden object which produces thrust towards the rear)5. PLEASE DO RESEARCH ON A SUBJECT BEFORE COMMENTING ON IT://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightcraft//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beam-powered_propulsion//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_propulsion
+bucketslash11 first of all, those videos were faked. second you couldnt turn with it. 3rd the whole point of that was the laser was on the ground. here the laser and the car are on the same machine. 4 on top of that the laser is firing backwards while in the faked tests you showed me it fires forwards. simply speeking heating up air will not work for thrust, and even if it was, using a laser todo so is horribly inefficient.
+martinshoosterman "lasers doesn't work that way"corerection, it works EXACTLY like the small scale tests i showed you BUT there is no guarantee that it works on a bigger scale
Well I suppose that's your opinion then but because its so out there and a creative idea, that's the reason I like it. Isn't that the point if vision GT cars? To demonstrate creativity? Im studying automotive design and creativity is something companies want.
+bucketslash11 thats the point though, this system is not out of our reach with current technology, its simply impossible. lasers dont work that way, evergy doesnt work that way, movement does not work that way and even if it did this would be a horrible way of using it.
+AJZulu well, a lightsaber would be possible, or at least something that works similarly would be possible, using plasma but it would still be fairly different.anyways. I dont mean any offence, but if you do belive everything you said, in the way you said it, then I doubt you would understand why it is impossible even if I explained it to you. but thats ok as pierce stated in his fixation of belief, its better for you to continue to believe that this is possible, probably. but I would like to point out:do better englishproperly use grammarbetter use grammaror better understand english
+martinshoostermanI would be more inclined to believe you when you can do better English.Something like this car could be possible with the right Power Source and Laser Emitter. But we don't have the Technology to be able to implement this Genius idea at this time. It's not a freaking JET car. It doesn't use Oil based fuels. Energy and Light. Man.The time when this can be made fact...we won't NEED to pollute our atmosphere with our current mode of transportation. Combustion....and Jet Propulsion. It's so wasteful. All that Energy lost with HEAT (among others). Now your point about Lightsabers. I agree. Laser Swords are a laughable Idea in practise. No way we could contain the beam emitted. But that is just a Lay Mans term for something they don't understand. It is in fact NOT a Laser at all. But that's a topic for another day.
+Stephons Gameplay You know when you say that it shows that you read my comment, and disagree with what I said, but you're incredibly stupid and know nothing of engineering or physics and theirfor have no real argument to make.
+martinshoosterman actually the laser doesn't ignite anything, just superheats the air in a concentrated ring shape forcing it to expand and create a pulse and in small scale it has worked
+bucketslash11 theoretically means it is possible we just dont have the tech. the lazer is rediculesly stupid its just igniting something. their is also a problem with storing the fuel, how the ignition works and the fact that jet cars dont work on a track at all how they described.
+martinshoosterman i said thoreticallyi never said we'd be able to store so much energy in such a small package and this is mainly where the 2X falls through as it would need batteries the sizes of a house in order to generate the kw used in the laser
+bucketslash11 No it is not. their is nothing possible about it. the only thing the lazwer could ever do is act as a spark plug, which is rediculesly stupid, because a spark plug takes significantly less energy.
+martinshoosterman they've mounted the laser ON the car (the small ball-ish thing at end of the car pointing towards the shroud)going back to things that are thoretically possible (and judging by the smallscale test) it's possible if the laser is powerful enough
+bucketslash11 I watched the video. first of all his requires a laser on the ground shooting it, which doesnt work for a car. secondly the video is completly fake and nothing he said makes any ssense and I dont mean it doesnt make sence as in I dont understand it. I mean it doesnt make sence the same way it doesnt make sence to say if you throw a ball at a table the ball will float away. simply their is no reason why it would do this. and laws of physics forbit it from doing so. unless of coarce in the circumstances where the ball has a low enough density but irelevent. this tech is simply not possible.
This is a conceivably real technology. There is nothing suggested that is impossible or even very different from working technologies. I like it. I'm happy it will be in the game. There are some downsides to GT series, but it is the best racing game available on consoles. I will play it every day and thank for new content. I may have my gripes, but overall I love it.Again, nothing here that is an engineering unicorn. It is all possible. Give the next generation of engineers something to aspire to and something to inspire.
+Patrick Ford some times science fiction can inspire people to make it irl. like warp drives. on the other hand stuff like light sabers are not possible and never will be. this falls under light sabers. now the important thing here is that its not some guy righting a book or making a movie, like tron. these are engineers doing this. putting it into a video game thats ment to be realistic. their is a reason why People like this game more than other games and this jonera over mario karts. their is a place and time for this shit. and thats not here.
If you want to be so negative, at least learn proper grammar and spelling...Science fiction becomes science fact. Would you say the same types of things to Jules Verne?
+rorschach775 With anything but thrust it wouldn't work because of the way the wheels are mounted. (btw the tires are too thin) with any other propultion system, it wouldnt be able to turn (although to be fair this shouldnt be able to turn either) and their wouldnt be enough space for fuel since it takes up a shit ton of fuel.
+rorschach775 nah, its pretty slow for a fake car defying all laws of physics. usally something like this would go the speed of light or some shit light that. and dont tell me they tried to make it realistic.
Do any of you know how possible this car is? I've never heard of laser propulsion.Either way if it had a different drive train it would still be badass.
+bucketslash11 Astronauts travel through time all the time. Though it's only at fractions of a second each year. Using gravity is a easy natural way of traveling forward in time.
+Cristian Nesson Lennon jealous of what? this car? it does not exist. this game? I have it and like it. the people who made the car? kindof. but I dont hate them, I inspire to be them. (I want to be a car designer after I graduate) Im not a hater.
+martinshoosterman not always, i've read a theory that if you make a cylinder with the mass of the sun and spin it at 1 billion RPM you would bend time/space thereby travelling in time as ling as you were inside the cylinder as it was spinningonce again HIGHLY theoretical
+bucketslash11 light and plasma are very diferent. something similar to a lightsabre is theoretically possible, but an actual lightsaber is not. and we have done it already, we do it all the time. were doing it right now. moving forward in time, is time travel. and physically traveling faster or slower accelerates and decelerates the rate which you are traveling forward in time. what is impossible is to decelerate time to the point where it stops because that would require traveling at the speed of light, and to travel fast enough to reverse time, because that would require going faster than light.
+martinshoosterman mitchio (?) kaku made a video on lightsabres and the technology that would make them real, although it was more of a plasma sabre than a light sabreif time travel is so easy why haven't we done it yet? it's all theoretical
+bucketslash11 well accually time travel is not only possible, but its easy. the problem is reverce time travel which is not possible. although accelerated time travel is. on the other hand. no. this is not actually possible. in the same way that a light saber is not accually possible. some stuff in science fiction is possible, like warp drive and worm holes. other stuff is not. laser propulsion in the way they are suggesting it here, is not.
+martinshoosterman your not looking at the theoretical side of this, i'm not saying this car could be built, all i'm saying is that this car is HIGHLY theoreticaljust like time travel, time travel is theoretically possible but the conditions needed to make it happend are pretty much impossible to meet
@QUAZZIEBHOY1967 ahhahaha. you paid money for that??? why. you win it when
you play the truck challenge and gold all events.?? i still ahve that truck
you gave me i gave away the one i won. thanks
@Klusignolofan1 actually i dont remember i have recorded and documented all
gifts. what is your psn??? i have highlighted almost every gift i have
recieved. didnt you give me a c3 calloway
@Klusignolofan1 its probably because they made them all 20 minutes long. i
dont even do it anymore. plus its not comparable to a regulare b spec race
for xp and stuff. its wack
