Check Hasekura Rokuemon Tsunenaga's story, Among their traveling embassy
there were 5 smiths that stayed in Spain. 3 on Toledo and 2 at Coria del
Rio (Seville) where their descendants to this day still use the surname
Japón (Japan in Spanish). Also , check the Tizona, a 10th century sword
that still cuts a sheet of paper. You can find mastersmiths anywhere.
Damascus steel was widespread from 11th century onwards. That's more
important than being forged by Masamune... In my opinion of course ;)
sure there were japanese smiths in spain but im saying that the spanish
shouldnt make japanese steel, the spanish were excelent sword smiths and
theres no doubt about that but they dont even come close to matching up
with the japanese when it comes to forging a sturdy traditional katana
sword. the katana is just too different from the single steel blades the
spanish were used to making. i highly doubt any spanish smith back then
would have even unstood the concept of a five steel blade
yes there was a time when toledo steel was considered one of the best in
the world but that was a very very very long time ago and they were only
good at creating european weapons. a japanese katana is much more intricate
and much better than any european sword so if its going to be made it
should be made by a traditional japanese swordsmith whos been trained all
of his life on how to make a katana sword
spanish swordsmiths just shouldnt be making japanese swords. they should
leave the katana making to the real experts. good for sitting on a wall but
my real shihozume katana would probably cut rite through that cheap sword
lol
@ohwhatacereal The katana of the movie was manufactured in Toledo, I was
there in 2002 and for then its price was 120 €. It is very beautiful, the
the white hilt with drawings in relief, the blade fits perfectly in the red
sheath, I say it because I have had it among the hands. When buying you
receive a certificate of authenticity, like a exact replica of the sword of
the movie.
hello...i appreciate the clan macleod sword. However i am interested in
purchasing an exact replica of connors katana from the first movie. i am
unsure as to wheter retailers change the scabbard or handle desighn and
would appreciate any possible links or info u can direct my way. thanks.
I have this sword, although it's not the Marto version. Whilst this is a
nice sword, it's not as good as the original claymore from the first
Highlander movie. The Marto claymore is the Endgame version.
