They are called both. You can buy them at Walmart. Elmer's calls them glue spots, while Glue Dots the brand calls them glue dots.

#1 rule of glue dots- NEVER TOUCH THEM!!!! After you though them, they dont work good at all.

I just used the mini ones yesterday, and I touched every single one of them. Mainly because I couldn't avoid touching them due to their size. But they worked perfectly after that.
