So far about an hour into the build, which was a bit unconventional. The D413 has you build the technical parts first including the shocks, diffs and turnbuckles.
It's worth noting that when you build the car in the saddle pack
configuration, many motors will not fit. I tried a viper, novak, and a
reedy and none of them fit behind the steering post. I heard that an Orion
will fit but I couldn't see if it did.
I finally built it with the shorty.
I read the literature about the shock caps, and how new Aluminum caps were
released. My question is with the OEM plastic caps. Why do they have a
screw at the top if they are not used to bleed the shocks (building them
right now)? Thanks
+RockNSteady They were released......And I have purchased the last set on the planet via eBay shipping from the UK. I also B/O some from Amain,........The Stockers can be built either with the included bladder or emulsion style (just an o ring)
This car is very nice, I drove one and it's just like a mix between a B44
and an Xray (if u have ever driven a xray xb4) It's aggresive and plays
with you but is also forgiving, I will be picking up a Lazar ZX6 from
kyosho very soon, and will put in the gear diffs when I get it! I can't
wait to get a 4wd buggy!
The D413 is in a league of it's own in my opinion. The B44.X with it's durabilty issues and the Xray with it's plastic gear diff are still a far cry away.
Hey Rich did u put the size on your MIP Thorp hex drivers like that or are
they new and that's how they come now? I use those along with other brands
also. Next question, how long have u had your channel and how many kits
have u built on it? Do u keep all of them or do u sell some? And last do u
always buy new electronics or do u swap sometimes if no longer gonna run a
certain kit? Thanks man, channel is awesome.
Thanks for the great comments JD! My MIP drivers are a couple of years old and did not include the new "Wrench Wraps" Here's my video explaining it: MIP Wrench Wraps I've probably had about 40 different RC's featured at The RCNetwork with about half being "kits" Right now, I have about 12 in the studio. As for electronics, I do re-purpose electronics. They're pretty expensive when you get the good stuff and really last a long time if you keep them working good.
Yeah, there was some controversy on the caps. Right after the realease (Over a year ago) TY started running Aluminum caps. HB has stated they're coming out with them and still nothing. They stated they had Pro-Line make a one off set for Ty
Thanks MTC. It is one of my favorite kits already!
Hot Bodies D413 - Unboxing
The Hot Bodies D413 is part of the revolution of 4wd buggies. It's 1/10th scale size screams 1/8th scale roots and with the engineering of Torrance DeGuzman ...
wish I watched this before I ordered all the Diff oil and shock oil, the
.pdf owners manual said you'd need those and I assumed it didn't come with
it haha
I ordered one and said late January then next day. Early Feb. Is this
company hard to get parts. If it's this hard to get kit.
If you could let me know rc network
+matt cheadle HPI has been having some issues the past couple of years......Originally, it was based in California, but was aquired/partnered with Hobbico in Illinois. Hobbico has recently taken over most of the CS for HPI and that's where most of the issues are, the transition. Fortunately, Ty Tessmann runs this car and has been getting a ton of press on his wins, which "should" help the parts/car support. Your best bet is to order from Tower, as they're directly involved with Hobbico/HPI and would probably have the best amount. With all that said, the D413 is an amazing buggy and drives better than any 4wd buggy I've had. Nothing has broke, but it would be nice to have some factory upgrades available. I have recently purchased the AVID racing chassis, weight system and floating servo mount for it and will be testing that soon. Stay tuned!
Yep, video should be out next week (I had the ESC/Motor since March!) I'm running a Tekin RSX/Gen 2 Redline 6.5t, New Orion Super Fast servo and some 90c Orion Shorty's
The Build time has grown to right over 2 hours and what a build. Everything you think you know about other buggies, changes with the D413 build! Now it's time ...
+Jonathan Postell II That's it for upgrades...It is getting a new body and electronics but nothing earth shaking. That video should be out in a week or so. Then gonna capture some more running video.
When running a Shorty Pack, you have 2 extra holes to move the pack toward the rear for more traction and less steering. I have it set up right now as the manual suggested. The other three are for the Saddle pack configuration (Which is included in the kit)
@Thatonepersonz With copied I mean that - after Losi started to narrow the
chassis - Team Durango really brought the next step to "ultra copact" the
car. I think the D8 was great and the CR8 will be good, too, but $300? Over
here the D8 was at €450 ($590) and spares were close to Kyosho pricing.
However ... I'm excited about the all new Xray platform 2012.
@StefanR0 NEVER REACHED?!?!? I dont even like hot boddies but the way there
stuff is layed out and designed is way different okay, Centered stuff is
beter and its going to be the new thing.... If durango was "never reached"
why arnt they winning the worlds and a $300 car is?!! :)
He can't imagine anything better? He should try a Team Durango ... often
"copied", never reached. :-) However, a nice chassis idea. But lightening
the chassis isn't so good as CG will rise. But they know what they are
doing! Nice car but ugly body.
MINIZILLA by HOTBODIES - 2yr Old Drives His RC Truck
My 2yr old son driving his R/C truck at our Church parking lot. Minizilla Mods: Intellect 1400Mah Nimh, custom shimmed slipper assembly, aluminum TVP ...
dude you should have him on some nitro by the time hes like 4. Haha but i
wouldn't do that cause im an electric guy, only 14 though and i have bought
3 rc veichles this year. YES THREE! a wheely king mini monster baja and
rc18r, and im gonna make me my own truck like a clod but small. thats all
im gonna tell ya. tell this little guy to keep up the good work. By the way
what age did he start.
No I never tought it to him. I have seen another 3 year old hold it this
way. I think the distance betweeen the grip & the trigger is shorter that
way. he still has a hard time hitting reverse. He hakes heis hand off the
wheel & moves the trigger to reverse. Weird, but it works for him. BTW he
is 3 now and a lot better driver now.
I got him a Traxxas Stampede VXL...65MPH...is that too fast 4 a three yr
old? To tone it down a bit, it will be geared down with a 16T pinion. The
VXL will be running one of the new Maxamps 12,000mah 2S lipos. Hoping to
get at least 40 minutes to an hour run time. Thanks ~Combat Chuck
haha wish my dad got me on our rc planes at this age. haha i dont think
that would work out. And what trucks are you thinking about getting him. Im
looking for a cheap 1/10 electric kit ractruck. Maybe an associated L4. Can
you tell us what truck you get him when you do.
Sorry, dude, you're mistaken. It's real. He's an R/C freak!!! See my other
3 videos of him driving. One driving a Savage & the other of him driving
his little truck at the race track. Enjoy!!!
2 when he started. This video was one of the first times he drove his
Minizilla. He's 3 now. Yes he drives nitro too checkout my other video of
him driving my Savage. later, ~Combat Chuck
haha nice. Think im getting an m03 here, and gonna start on road her town
in my town. No one does on road and i like on road quite a bit. What
upgrades you got in your stuff
I love your video, your son is a great driver and seems very focused! I'm
about to buy my 3 yr old son his first "real" truck, any suggestions? Great
song too, what is that?
ill be watching this kid's name.. someday he will be as famous as atsushi
hara or andy moore.. Ü
Hot Bodies Hara D8 and D8T Review
This is part 1 of the review series. The rest should follow shortly. This is my 1st official review video so take it easy on me, lol. Really like the truck though.
Hey Ronnie, has anything broken on it yet? I found out it's real easy to
pop an arm if you nose-dive like me: hard and often. ;-) You obviously a
very good driver, but it's a known issue with this kit. I'll message you
the link, or just search 'How to make your D8T Nose-dive Friendly' on my
channel.
Hey man, check out our channel....I run a D8T as well. Let's keep this club
tight so we can support each other! I wish I new about 2012 Proline body (I
used the 'tall' 8-T posts instead of drilling my tower - but that is not a
good mod). I just painted/trimmed a new stock body. UGH!
Several hours have been invested in this build and it has really come to a close quickly getting ready for wheels/tires and a body! The Hot Bodies D413 is part of ...
nice... love for the tekin gear-with hotwire and a pc you can really fine
tune your setup. ran the rsx and 6.5 in my durango dex410 - perfect for a
"wheeler" nice choice!
This was very helpful. How did you get the Losi 22 arm to work? The threads
are different than the ball given in the kit. We're you able to purchase a
ball that fit with std thread ? If so what is the make? Thanks again.
+The RCNetwork Thanks, How about the Losi 22 Servo Arm. the threads ared standard. Is there a ball stud that will fit the HB ball cup with standard thread that will fit the Losi servo arm? Thanks again!!!
+RockNSteady in a sense, yes. However, a good harsh landing with a low torque servo could have ill effect. I think in the D413, you can run a direct servo horn with a 180+ oz/in torque servo with no problem
I ended up buying a ton of washers from a local hardware store and ended up finding the exact size to help not bottom out the areas on the steering rack. I also used them through out the buggy where ever slope was found. Sorry for not the best answer, but I think I spent maybe $6 in washers and it was priceless! The key was the thickness and the inside diameter of the washer
this is off topic from the vid, but i have a sprint 2 and was looking for
your opinion on gearing. would like to see speeds around 60mph. Any advice?
everything is stock except the sidewinder 3 combo.
Depending on the kv of your sidewinder system (4600 and 5700kv will be fine), run a 3s Lipo and you'll get right close to 60mph with stock gearing. Watch your ride height, as the higher up the body, you'll catch air under and it will go airborne! Kepp an eye on your temps as well
