CSUN is ok. The outside infrastructure is nice, but alot of the buildings are outdated and old (Juniper). Inside the Oviatt Library. it has OLD DESKS, seats, resources, a bad place to study. The new buildings are state of the art, but there's not many. UCLA is what you call a lovely campus. It's a beautiful campus. Can't say the same for CSUN. There's no school spirit and the staff are below par, especially advisement. Teachers, you can't really expect great ones. Some are good, some aren't.

Great Video! Makes me want to do engineering.. to bad I'm terrible at math and I'm a Film major. I work for the Student Outreach and Recruitment services and if were not using this video already than I definately think this should be going out to potential students

Kim Tracy and Robert Roll ROCK... if you can use that term to describe great video production!

This is a beta type stirling engine. the metal divider linking the cylinder to the base acts as a heat sink.(the right side is colder than the left side). there are two pistons acting, one simply to displace the gas either to the cool side (for compression) or to the hot side (for the release), the second piston is what actually takes the power. when the displacement cylinder takes the space n the cold side, the gas heats and and starts the rotation; when it is on the hot side, vice versa.

Arrgh! waant! the levels of awesome radiating from this machine are melting my face this moment! Why Oh Why Can I Not Make One?! It just seems too impossible at my current stage..it's as though a force is compelling me to go forward and create one, but another, more succeeding one is pushing me back! D: I could BUY one at a reasonable price...VERY reasonable..charitable, in fact.

Its a good generator as long as the fuel from that lamp is burning. But how about this one, If u could find a way to dig a pipe all the way down to the earth lava like those in Hawaii I think u can generate enough energy to light up the whole of Oahu FREE ok let them pay u for it and me too for the good Idea LOL.

Hey friend can u help me i m in second year mechanical engineering, And i want to make a stirling engine as u made for my lab innovation project so can u help me out about the designing and working of it i m not getting from where shall i start And its an awesome engine made by You Great Job

hard to explain in a couple of words, but its principle is based of the laws of thermodynamics with the heat exchange. You can find further info if u google the term or just go to wikipedia, they have neat graphics there and a good explanation. Let me know if u have any other question.

@MultiHarish1 Have you ever thought about using a search engine to find a technical description of the operation of a Stirling Engine? You would not believe it but it is possible and takes only a few seconds! Isn't that amazing? The Internet is amazing!

DId you "find" the displacer cylinder? I mean: did you recicle it from scrap or did you made it on a lathe?... I don't have a lathe, so I'm trying with empty (physically) batteries to use the shell... Any advice? thanks! good project!

You'd need a shaft connected to this going into a generator to harness the mechanical energy and transfer it to electrical energy. And no, there is no free electricity. You input heat into the system.

Stirling Engines are Great If you want to get the Plans To Build your own Stirling Engine And Combine it with Solar Power - Go to Google and search for " Solar Stirling Info " Pick the first Result.

It was a class project and the material was provided by the school... not sure about an estimate on the cost of material + machining... try searching online for some DIY stirling engine projects.

theres also other ways to provide heat instead of having an open flame u could use magnifying glasses and mirrors to heat up this engine...then it will be 100% clean energy conversion!

thats hard to answer this question. This stirling engine of my video probably would not produce much, but they are using stirling engine powered by the sun with amazing results!
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-9gz6hI6MU7s/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/PVtY6Q8jSGo/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
@117Alfonso You still need a heat source to power the engine. If you used the sun, it would be no cost to run. But from a physics standpoint, it's not free energy.
https://gp4.googleusercontent.com/-j6fUXqTbJ9Y/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/C1ROTIqfpeY/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Very Simple Thing to do ... Use Parabolic Mirror to make heat and make the Stirling Engine Rotate Just like it is explained in this Website: Solar-Stirling.info
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-x7FWiON0muY/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/AokjhDnnjbQ/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
wait, im such a nublet, what is the fire burning? like that metal tube thing. how is it making it go faster? is it just like a piston inside a cylender?
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-HeInf1Yxun4/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/aIt0N8QF_ro/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
@RewardedArryunHacked heat -> movement -> electricity (via a generator) or just leave it at movement, and use it to propel a train or a car.
https://gp4.googleusercontent.com/-qEFSBJbnK20/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/W1w0xI0AyxM/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Even though some say that this linkage style is inefficient because of friction, i like it the most out of all the stirling designs : )
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-95C8kGErFmQ/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/xMgDhjrc_YQ/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
@Lightissoright simple, the hot air accumulated in the cylinder pushes the pistonout and the wheel's movement pushes the piston in
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-Ze6tAXV6WKE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4Xy0GHgljW8/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
i want one like this, any good ideas where i can buy one? a google search was pretty useless, ended up with shammy looking ones
https://gp4.googleusercontent.com/-H4mJIML0t04/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/LvOar3BBwXI/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
@therandomexample u can find simpler models for sale online, at a pretty reasonable price...check it out ;)
