@ferryengr i have heard complaints as well, but have none of my own.
Concerning the blown seal, i did video last winter when I had one blow,it
was the filter adapter to blame, not the filter. I can't think of a filter
I would rather use....the Fram HP1 is my favorite. thx for commenting and
take care buddy! hambone
The internet is rife with complaints about the Fram HP1 and its internal
quality in recent years. People have cut them open to find cardboard. I
have one on my '67 bus with a 2017 cc and recently blew a seal after a cold
weather start up. You sound happy with the HP1. Any thoughts?
@1968hambone According to wikipedia, The United States is the only
industrialised country in the world that has failed to adopt the metric
system - hehe, guess I have to learn the Imperial system ;o)
@bent1963 actually i have been wanting to learn metric, just haven't got
around to it......maybe after my kids are grown i'll have more time for
such things.....lol take care pal....
great video with a lot of info, however - I'm missing some of the measure
details. I would appreciate if you could refer to the metric system
please...
volkswagen parts and walnut - tim sway perspectives
these are available for sale at timsway.etsy.com here is a pair of side table/stools made from used vw brake rotors, coil springs, a little scrap steel and slices of ...
me, too. these little springs were so bouncy it was unusable that way. i may hit the junk yard for some 1 ton truck springs and try again! the only place you can get that song is right here (and in another vid of mine, "exit sign lunch box") someday i'll finish the album. been saying that for 5 years ;-)
Always happy to learn vw stuff from you Darren! I've got a question for
you. I built a 1600 dual port for my mom's sandrail. Thing runs awesome but
having a plug fouling issue. After about a year the right rear cylinder
started to missfire (forget cyl number off top of my head). If I held the
plug boot about 1/2" above the top of the plug it would begin firing again.
We were running a set of ngks. Plugs looked great not oil fouled or
anything. Replaced them with a set of Bosch plugs and it did the same thing
about a year later. Same cylinder, same holding plug boot above plug it
would start firing. We are running an 009 distributor, electronic ignition,
and had installed a new cap/rotor/wires when I built it. Any ideas what the
cause may be? Seems strange to me!
love your vw videos, so much good information, its great when your in the
middle of doing something and you are thinking out loud with all the little
tid bits of important information...noticed during your valve adj, I see
that the manifold is attached to the head using bolts not studs and nuts.
Is that a accepted change?
Good video Darrin. Hope that things are still going well there and that the
races go well you you also. Bus is getting along nicely and will be in
super shape when you finish. Cheers OLDDUDE
I'm enjoying your videos; and your extensive knowledge of VW vans. Never
owned one, probably never will, but I can appreciate someone who knows what
they're doing.
Yep, you do need a parts washer like that. I have one just like it that I bought near new at a yard sale 8 or 9 years ago. I never have used it, I'm familiar with your vids, I would give that parts washer to you if you were in my driveway with a truck... I'd even help you load it, I surely would. The unfortunate part is I'm in Las Vegas and you are about 2500 miles away.
