This is a good video to remind every fighter to watch telegraphic movements
to spot the kicks coming.
As for the spinning back fists?
Every fighter should always have at least one hand up guarding their neck
and chin and Know when you opponent is within "YOUR" personal space and
"THEIR" striking distance.
That Silva kick from his back. Ive always said, I dont know WHY no one
tries that. Especially when someone is mounted on you. Do a cheerleader
front kick with your shin and instep and clock em in the back of the head.
Not only is it powerful but they wont see it coming.Of course it depends on
flexibility and size differences but still.
+Vam The Anomaly well if we r talking street fight then just pull their head down and dig their eye out with ur finger. but yeah his kicks would be awesome.
It's fucking bullshit that a guy laying on his back can kick a guy who's
standing in the head, but a guy who's standing can't kick a guy who's
laying in the head.
+asswhooping101 Steroids don't just increase muscles, the improve one's phisical abilty alltogether, just look at guys like Lance Armstrong, SIn Cara, Roger Clemens none of those guys were that muscularyet they were busted taking roids...
The majority of the mma and ufc fighters arent the best kickers in the
world. You can definitly see the sloppyness in the technics but the spinning
hook kick at 3:57 was fucking amazing!
maybe you haven't watched edson barboza, Donald cerrone, Stephen Thompson, Daron cruickshank, Joanna champion, holly Holm, thiago valves, Jose aldo, lyoto machida and many others who were professional kickboxers before they joined the UFC
Low Kicks for Kickboxing / MMA Tutorial (Kwonkicker)

Most non-TKD practioners don't realize they have a false understanding of
what the art is, much less the fact there are multiple styles of TKD
throughout the world, each with it's own technique & strategic standards.
It comes down to this: there is no better kicks for either style. It all
comes down to what style you trained the most. Train your TKD well (not
just sport TKD), and you'll have no need for any other style of kicks. I
have tutorials on every TKD kick you'll need for kickboxing.
My low kicks are all Kukki/WTF TKD style kicks that have been trained for
kickboxing. I still use TKD kicking principles: I lean back when I kick to
avoid punch counters (I don't make the forward C-shape like Thai boxers),
I turn my hip, knee AND thigh over, I strike my target so that it creates 2
right angles, I use a half chamber, and I use both the instep and lower
shin to strike. I also use a tkd mo seogi & mo-juchumseogi stance (neutral
stance). It is not a Muay Thai stance.
kwon, I've seen you use bot the instep and the shin to kick. I was taught
to use my instep when I was younger and it sort of stuck with me. It's
difficult for me to use my shin to kick and they don't generate as much
power. whats your opinion on this? is it worth it for me to learn how to
kick with my shin?or should i just practice with my instep? does kicking
with the instep cause ankle problems? because it seems to me like it might.
I'm not a fighter, just a practitioner.
nah i dont want to learn muay thai style kicks, i do tae kwon-do but i here
all the time that Muay thai is superior because of this thing and that
thing, but after watching that Keiji fighter and Hassan i think how can ppl
just think this automatically, so i was wondering if you could talk about
the TKD style kicks stances, i relation to muay thai and what you think
makes them better if you do, thanks
I have noticed that TKD people who move on to kickboxing or Muay Thai tend
to do better than those who just do kickboxing or MT. I think it's because
of the concept of the snap in the TKD kicks and the fact that you practice
as much with your left kicks as you do with your right. (Therefore you can
do kicks from southpaw and they still be effective). Notice how he snaps
that kick. Ouch!
I know I'll probably get detained by the UN for researching on weapons of
mass destruction for asking this, but do you do any weight training in
addition to technique drills and cardio? You have amazing control and
explosiveness, I don't even want to imagine the kind of damage you'd
unleash if you were to gain some extra pounds of muscle Great video as
always, you're awesome!
My old vids were shot on a crappy minidv camcorder. Much less detail in the
video from my old camera as well as the aspect ratio always being squished
slighly (making the vertical part of the image look thinner). My leg
workouts haven't changed since I started training. It's just that now my
recent videos have been uploaded in HD, so you can see detail much better.
Thanks for your help man, im going to check out all those tutorials, ppl
like Joe rogan said TKD is useless ad when you here it so much it makes you
think, i never lose faith in TKD as i love it, but my instructor was mainly
sport TKD, and after seeing Hassan and Keiji i think why the fuck did i let
those people get to me, thanks again for your help
A few years back knee'd my dad in the peronial nerve(which my instructor
had just taught us a few days earlier), thinking eh it cant hurt that bad..
and his leg collapsed immediately i thought he was just being a bitch, haha
guess not. I felt bad after because it was like 50% my fault. He should
have checked.
Kwon, as usual, you presented an amazing tutorial. No teacher, whether it
be online or in real life, has given the kind time, detail, and knowledge
into martial arts teacher as you have. Are you ever going to open your own
gym or at least teach professionally in the future?
Great video with a great breakdown of the mechanics behind the kicks. So
far i haven't trained low kicks much, which I now realize is a mistake :P
Maybe not as useful for TKD-sparring since it is an illegal technique, but
nonetheless a great weapon to have in the arsenal.
TU! awesome bro, I trained once with a black belt from Korea and this guy
helped me in the area of exactly what you started the video with,
conditioning the top of the foot. When we sparred and he blocked my kicks I
was in pain, when I blocked his kicks I was in pain :)
I just looove low kicks :D Landing one on the opponent's thigh feels so
satisfying. It's also a way to "test" a fighter, to see how much pain s/he
can withstand. That is, if s/he doesn't just check them. At which point the
kicks become a lot less fun xD
thank you for the video! but i have to ask you why you don´t recommend to
hit with the upper part of the shinbone? it´s the hardest part of the bone
and i heard that a lot from different people...(peter aerts is one of them)
anyway good job my friend!
K-1? GLORY is the op kickboxing organization now. I think Kwon would need
some more experience in professional kickboxing matches first. Like he has
experience in TKD tournaments and 1 Muay Thai match but I'd still say he
needs more experience.
kwonkicker u use ur instep/lower shin to do low kicks right? im not exactly
sure but i notice when u use the stronger part of the shin it wont make a
loud noise on the bag, but will hurt a lot more when u use it against a
person
Dear kwonkicker, lets make a video together. I'll get you to Finland and
you kick me in ribs as a demonstration then when im coughing blood you call
ambulance and i show you how Finnish medical care works.
I believe that's just how he taught himself to exhale when he strikes. Most
fighters do that to make sure they breath properly while fighting.
Otherwise they can exhaust themselves too quickly.
Anything that will help strengthen my knees they have always been week and
It makes it hard to do some kicks I been working them out for about 2 years
now and there has been no improvement.
There are multiple low kicks shown in this video. There are also multiple
types of Muay Thai low kicks. Try Cyrus Washington's tutorials. Or Muay
Thai tutorials made by Thais.
You might also check out Steve Vick and Serkan Yilmaz. They are also
excellent TKD Kickboxers. Head over to user/ultimatestriking and check out
their highlight reels.
Right! so many people think blocking with the shin does something ha
