Grab'n Go #33 - Windshield Wiper Arm & Blade Replacement
Removing the Wiper Arms, Reinstalling the Wiper Arms, Set the Wiper Arm Position, Adjusting the Windshield Washer Spray Nozzle.
Pantograph Wiper Arm- "Extending" Wiper Arm
1991 Mercury Grand Marquis LS windshield wipers. Mercury driver's side wiper arm. Windshield wiper test These are my favorite type of windshield wiper arms, ...
@1201andresmith Sadly I can't anymore because I got rid of this car a month
ago due to insurance problems. But there are a few other Grand Marquis
wiper videos in the "Grand Marquis" playlist on my channel. The closest one
to what you want is "Sweet random Pantograph wiper shot" (or something
close to that I don't remember what I called it-LOL!) but that video
briefly shows that wiper advancing onto the windshield from the inside of
the car. Thanks for watching!
@omgitsBenjamin But, if you are really interested in doing this, look for
the rear wiper off a 1989-1995 Ford Aerostar, or the driver's side wiper on
a (I forget which model it was, but it was there full sized car) 1993-1996
Lexus which had a pantograph arm. Those should work, you would have to
modify the Ford one, but it would fit on your windshield. Good Luck, if you
do get this to work I want to see a video- Thanks for watching!
@omgitsBenjamin There were two masts on the arm, one attached to the
spindle and the other attached to a fixed metal pin on the same assembly.
Two other problems are your Accord's windshield isn't wide enough to
support one of these, the wiper would continuously hop of the side. And the
Honda's wiper arm is held on with a European style bolt, while most of
these are on the pin-type serated spindles. Continued...
@VICNASTY1989 Sure! The wiper arms on my Grand Marquis only do the latter
unfortunately. But I think that is because the windshield has a sharper
slope, therefore the wiper blades are a lot longer on my car. But the
hiding-and-lifting is a really cool feature! I never have the problem of
the wipers being frozen and stuck onto the windshield :)
@McVaio Yep, they seat into brackets under the hood when there off, when
you turn them on they advance about 4" onto the glass and start, when you
turn them off they lower 4" back into the bracket. Another automotive
feature lost to history. I can make a video of this if you want to see the
wipers up close.
Do you think I could find one of these an install it on my Honda Accord
'92? The only problem I foresee if is the wiper arm attaches to the motor
spindle at two separate points like it does on the wipers of a city bus. Do
you remember if it did? I see 2 masts on the wiper arm so I guess it
wouldn't work.
@VICNASTY1989 Hey there. I'm still around and I come back to this video of
yours every once in a while to ponder my idea of putting a pantograph wiper
on my Honda. I still play around with the idea.
@McVaio Yeah, these are pretty cool. They were really common in the '70s
and '80s but cars really don't have wide windshields anymore so they have
kind of disappeared. Thanks for watching!
@VICNASTY1989 I saw the new Yaris wiper completely randomly one evening
heading into a deli and it blew my mind. I promptly looked it up and watch
Toyota's demonstration videos of it LOL.
That's really cool- you don't see these a lot anymore! I'm assuming its the
European model, as the ones in the US still have two wiper arms.- Thanks
for watching!
