Chiropractic for the Layman
Life University student Ian Shtulman shares his award winning 10 minute layman's talk about Chiropractic. If you ever wanted to know what Chiropractic was, ...
This isn't a dumb question. People need a "wellness checkup" with a
chiropractor for the same reason that you need a "wellness checkup" at your
medical doctor, orthodontist, oncologist (if you've had cancer) etc. We're
constantly inundated with physical, chemical and emotional stress. Hence
the need for regular treatments. There are chiropractors who over-recommend
visits, but they're far and few. 1x / 4 wks is not unreasonable for
wellness.
(Continued from below) Within a species there is usually a variety of
traits (e.g. shorter neck, longer neck; striped, unstriped) and there are
individuals with small mutations making them different from other members
of their species. If this trait is advantageous to the individuals survival
or reproduction their genes will be pasted on. Evolution is the change of
the concentration of these traits within a population over time.
If the body has this inate intelligence, and is so good at regulating
itself, and healing itself, then how come we need as many one chiropractic
visit every month, according to many chiropractors? Isn't the body capable
of correcting these 'subluxations' on it's own? There is no proof that
these mysterious subluxations cause any 'nerve interference' or 'pinching'
that lead to disease.
He said that the body developed the spinal vertebrae to protect the spinal
cord. It is a common misconception of evolution that it has a goal that it
moves toward, but it does not work this way. Organisms do not think, "I'd
like to eat those leaves in the tree so I better start to grow a longer
neck" and then grow a longer neck from the necessity.
Your reality is merely your perception of what's around you. Obviously your
reality is one of pain based, sickness based care, rather than any true
form of healthcare. This is one of the best explanations of chiropractic
I've ever heard in 15 yrs of practice. Good job Ian.

As a pediatric nurse, I feel I'm qualified to speak on this issue, although
anyone who does just a bit of research could also have an opinion. I
believe in the scientific process, I believe in peered reviewed journals.
The fact that a child has grown up heathy while receiving chiropractic is
not evidence of anything, the vast majority of children grow up healthy
without it, your evidence is antidotal, and that is not valid in science.
The whole concept of "DR" Palmer is quackery and has been dismissed by real
scientist as quackery. A person could go to 10 different Chiropractors with
the same complaint, he will get 10 different diagnosis with 10 different
treatment plans and will never be told that is ailment is cured, he will be
told to come back at least weakly for the rest of his life, A chiropractor
will never tell a pt that's he's in great shape and to come back next year.
You've drank the kook aid, I know I'll never convince you, if I saw science
base data, I could change my mind.
Hey Chris,Sorry my video touched such a sensitive spot as well as all of the other videos that you are SO negative about. I'm sure you are an AWESOME pediatric nurse, as my wife is one of the best chiropractors around. I'm sure all of your scientific process journals are helping you progress to be a pediatric Doctor and leading professionals in your field. I'm also sure that you are the best person to consult before I put out any videos about pediatrics that we have great reviews on. Hopefully we can get to the point where we get away from sitting behind computers, finding videos from people we've never met or talked to, and bashing them on their site. I appreciate your feedback but I respectfully have to end talking to you since you are so passionate about me drinking Kool-Aid and knowing nothing about decisions that are made in my home with my degrees and my wife's Doctorate. Thanks for understandingPS - Is is wrong to see a wellness professional to maintain wellness and right to take medication for the rest of your life that has significant side effects? Don't want to enter into dialogue but I'm seriously confused!
Any parent or chiropractor that works on a newborn is nuts. This is in
complete contradiction of peer reviewed medical opinion. This is quackery
in the worst form.
Chris the only reason I am responding to you is because we are transparent in all that we do. My son has been getting adjusted since he was a newborn, my wife is a pediatric certified chiropractor, and we see numerous children in our practice. They have all had wonderful responses and are very healthy. It's the people like you who are less qualified, look at one or two articles, and hide behind a computer spreading your close-minded opinion on others who are more educated than you on certain matters. I hope spreading hate on the internet makes you feel good. In the mean time we'll keep working towards having healthy alternatives that are more safe than doping our kids up with medicine.
