Well, that's a subjective point of view. From the company stand point it was. One good mission would pay for it not to mention insurance covered most of it. Fortunately the engines were near TBO and would have been swapped out in less than 200 hrs anyway along with needing prop overhauls or replacements, and if you were to buy another 404, put new engines, props, the needed electronics, mod & install 2 camera ports you'd be approaching that price. So to the company it made sense to get the workhorse up and making money again. We have a fleet with 3 of these 404's, turbo Commander, C182 and a fleet of (UAV's) toys. Not many planes can stay on station for over 8hrs at a stretch. Kinda like flying to Hawaii without the payoff of being in paradise. LOL
+Fishes worst enemy These planes are few and far between in finding them only 230 +/- were produced with up to a 8.5 hour endurance also they've been modified with camera ports to be mission specific. This particular plane was repaired at a cost of over $700k and was up flying again within 8 months of the crash. I have a video of still photo's showing all the damage on my page. Check it out then click like, subscribe and share for me. Thanks for comment, hope this helps.
I got one question. If there's no co-pilot and you are going to do a tail
strike by a 100% chance, why did you sit all the way at the back? Plus you
didnt get as good footage as you would in the front
+wonderr; The decision to sit in the back was for egress purposes and to get out of the plane as quickly as possible. Also we did it for the transfer of as much weight possible to the rear of the tail section to help in making the landing smoother and have the back of the plane take the brunt of the force and damage while sliding down the runway. In a 404 the pilot has his own emergency exit at his window. Of course for filming it would have made for better footage to film from up front, but at that point I couldn't give two shits about good footage as much as I wanted to get my ass out of that thing ASAP after trying for seven hours before to fix the hydraulic issue. Hence my sitting in the rear away from the fuel tanks and next to the exit door and opening the latch just before impact to make sure it wouldn't get into a bind and be unable to open. Check out the other link in my above description and you can see my ass running away from the incident. Thanks for the comment and watching. Please share and check out some of my other videos. I have a great powered parachute crash posted also.
I hear ya, but as you may know, twins really don't respond as well with one engine and then that brings in a whole other aspect of parameters to contend with. I wasn't calling you out saying you were bashing the pilot. No worries. I welcome all comments on the video and enjoy most like yours. Merry Christmas my friend.
+TitanMan404 Fair enough. I didn't say the pilot did anything wrong, but workload permitting and if the weight permits single engine operation, the pilot could have at least saved one engine. 2 would have just been a bonus. You are correct, safety first and the pilot did a great job but its not unusual to see pilots kill both engines before touchdown.
RAW: Small plane crashes into sea just after take off fails in Perak, Malaysia
Plane take off fail. Light aircraft falls into the sea after tail hits the ground during take-off. Pilot and passenger escape with minor injuries after the crash.
