A lot of people can say they bought their dream car,” says Carter Kelly Kramer. “Not a lot of people can say they built it.” Kramer's 1976 BMW 2002 is an example ...
I don't much care for/about BMWs these days - it's all marketing to
self-absorbed dimbulbs, in my opinion - but I can trace my love of
1600/2002 models back to late-60s issues of R&T, before I could drive. The
automotive writers said: this is it, it's been discovered.
I was walking with a newfound girl of interest through Kenmore Square, in
Boston, in the fall of 1972, and I spotted a maroon 2002, stock [ maybe it
had Minilites, I can't remember ], parked at the curb. I told A what it was
and she said ' it looks like a Corvair '. What?
I do design work for a living and the Gospel is ' proportion is everything
'; 2002s have it, the 3.0 CS coupe has it [ Ghia-built BTW ], 1960s Alfa
Guilias have it, anything Giugiaro - even his mistakes - has it, and that's
my list of dreams. I may drive a nice GTi, but those are the cars I think
about.
Your story and your car are magnificent, and this is coming from a car snob
and perfectionist. I don't think I've ever seen a better application of
burnt orange. You created something righteous and sweet in the extreme,
brother.
Thanks.
I am an old fashioned guy but really dudes this is the 21st century--a 2015
BMW 4 series turbo will suck the shit out of these old turds. Might as well
get a 1964 MGB if you want the old crap for make believe fun. I tested a
2016 Scion FRS this week, and it would blow these off the road, is more
reliable, and costs less. Watch the video i did and see.
wrong choice m8 r32 is way too heavy for a track monster. you would be out of brakes in 10 laps. it's awd so it would just bug every time you would try to launch it. the only thing i could see the gtr doing with that awd system is like you said, off road. but there are other cars that have a better track/drag times and cheaper than an r32 gtr
I wouldn't say that the E30 M3 is the reason why almost every german luxury
sports car exists. Sure, german car manufacturers built certain cars in
competition with the M3 but it was originally was built to compete with the
Mercedes 190e 2.3-16v. The Motor Trend Channel did an excellent comparison
between the two cars and concluded that the Mercedes was better than the
BMW. I would be very excited if Doug was somehow able to get his hands on
an original Audi Quattro to review/compare to another car like the M3. I
thought this was a very cool video though, it's a comparison that not a lot
of people were expecting!
The origins of the German sport saloon can be traced back to the 3.0 CSL. But what gave BMW the view that this kind of car could be successful as a higher volume road car was the E12 M535i. Then they made the E28 M5 as a full-fledged M car, with the M3 shortly after as a homologation special for Group A regulations.Mercedes followed it later by forming a close relationship with independent tuner AMG and acquiring it in 1999. The Mercedes racing efforts in the 80s and early 90s are unrelated to AMG. The 190E 2.3-16 was all Mercedes, and the Sauber Group C cars were built by Sauber and fitted with Mercedes-developed engines.quattro as an Audi high performance street division was born later on named after success in rallying but only really took off in the 2000s when RS cars became more common.

time for someone that actually knows about classic bmws to chime in. Its a
shame that they didn't bother with the engine. it honestly sounds like it
just needs the ignition system fixed up. its not hard to do at all, plugs,
wires, cap and rotor would probably have it running tip top. Those cars
came with the M30 "big-six" which is one of BMWs most bullet proof engines.
They run forever, are extremely reliable, and if the motor was shot it
wouldn't cost much to replace it with a used one. In fact, i turned one
down that was offered to me for the low low price of Zero dollars about a
month ago, and it was from the last generation of that engine, which was a
3.5. The one that came with this car was a 3.3 i believe. Might be a 3.2, i
can never remember.
+BTTFBMWIndeed, they are the most wonderful gifts, that life gives you.Take good care of you and your family. That's a piece of paradise, what you've got over there, man! Cherish it forever! It is said that when you come home, tired from work, and you see them smiling in their childish innocence, it just fills your heart with joy and peace. Hope i'll experience that feeling someday..Happy Halloween, guys! (*early greetings)
+VilQ Bless a najlepsze z tego wszystkie go jest to że po spowodowaniu kraksy wychodzi taki rusek z samochodu i obwinia ta osobę w którą wjechał , Magia :D
The BMW is for knobs who think going sideways is fast, big and clever when
clearly for anyone over 20 or with an IQ in excess of 10 it isn't. In every
relevant way Audi is superior, BMW always resorts to its one and only trick
- how much better the car oversteers and is likely to kill you, your kids
and some poor innocent other. There are obviously tools out there that find
that prospect appealing
+Malf Meister I drive a BMW, I'm a MENSA member, have a mechanical engineering degree and a medical degree. Are you suggesting I'm a knob and have an IQ under 10? Audi is not superior. BMW is not all about going sideways. If you knew anything about vehicle dynamics you'd understand why BMW is superior, even if you NEVER go sideways.
Audi is notorious for breaking down and consuming all your oil. most new BMWs are shit I agree. but before 2000 BMW was amazing. I still have an e36 and I love it.
BMW's suck though, yes they are expensive, yes not that many people can
afford them but then again, look at what people are getting. Most BMW's
share pretty much 99% of the damn desgin on each model. lol They talk about
handling as if they are racers in a track. lol And talk of luxury as if
they have gold interiors lol To be honest, BMW is crap, they are ugly and
pretty much have a bad image. I would rather have a Mustang 5.0 a car that
looks sporty, has a powerful V8 and gives you a very nice interior (not
just some plain old sedan interior like the BMW) Even a Mustang 5.0 looks
similar to Aston Martins which are VERY VERY high class cars. Or a Camaro
SS or Corvette Stingray. Fuck BMWs they suck balls. Lol to the morons that
think BMWs are the best. Worst cars ever.
Even though your argument is awful to begin with, I had to say something since you said a mustang looks like an Aston Martin and that they have nice interiors than BMW's...
Mat Watson takes the new BMW M4 on a 1000-mile review, taking on the Austrian mountains, an autobahn and even the Nurburgring. Subscribe to our YouTube ...
i do love it when he says : " even mercedes drivers seem to like it " well
, us mercedes drivers are abit more open minded then the most BMW owners
out there , from them BMW is the only brand that exists
+Reece Murphy It does not only depend on eco mode, though. It depends a lot on your driving style as well. If you rev your engine at every single red light you're going to get a worse MPG, no matter which mode you're in.
+StereotypedFilms Exactly, but I'm just saying the mpg average that it states it has on paper will be in eco mode. So it doesn't really make sense saying "This bmws gets 34mpg on average" when it just doesn't when you're using it likes its supposed to be used.
