The Mercedes Benz GLK 250 BlueTec has arrived, and I get to take it for a test drive! How good is the Diesel engine? Is this small SUV a leader in it's class?
Some of your points about the car's safety "nannies" are misguided.
Mercedes has done an exemplary job of integrating those safety systems
without intruding on the driving experience. You mention nothing of the
engine noise, the handling, rear seat comfort, etc. Your review could have
been far more informative, but it missed.
This was a well-spoken review, but I agree. You did not do a very good job
of explaing how the Blind Spot Assist and Lane Tracking features work. You
make it seem as though the car whines at you arbitrarily and not only when
you put your turn signal on with someone in your blind spot or when you
drift from your lane.
Excellent review. What this guy says makes sense. I looked at cheaper Suv's
and then compared to the GLK 250 - as he says the extra cost is well worth
it. The quality of this vehicle far exceeds the Ford Escape Titanium for
instance and the fuel economy is outstanding. We bought one and we are
delighted!
Zack, how is the engine noise with the diesel? At idle, is it very easy to
distinguish that it's a diesel engine from outside the car? I know at
cruise speed the new diesel's are just as quiet as gas engines but I'm more
interested in idle noise and also acceleration noise. Thank you
I appreciate everyone's feedback! Thanks so much. I'll try to get more into
the detail of some of the blind spot and lane tracking work on my next MERC
review!
