But you're right country music is dying and it's very sad because country, like blues or rockabilly are the true music of your country. +Jose S Good luck on that Jose. Country has almost died except those on TruCountry and they all live in Texas. Nashville is just a memory of what country used to be but who wants to pay for the Opry anymore. Not me.

Vince talked about how this song came about. I saw the video clip of Vince hosting one of 12 CMA award shows he hosted (guessing this was in 2000) he and Dolly did a duet "My Kind Of Woman/My Kind Of Man" and at the end of the song, Dolly said "I know I am not Patty but you are not Porter either." According to Vince it stuck in his mind. I love how this song turned out. Great job, Vince!

+yasuko kearney Now Ashley and Vince did a duet together at Milwaukee Theater in March 22, 2015. Since I am a huge fan of Vince I maybe a little unfair to Blake. The duet with Vince was so good the Examiner called 'spectacular' in their review. I loved it.

I noticed some comments about how Blake Shelton is really tall & so the line about being short doesn't make sense, & I hate to get crude, but it's actually a joke about Porter Wagoner's *ahem* member. You see, according to old Nashville gossip it was famously very large, so the lyrics here are referencing that (which is really the only fair way to answer with the comparison of Dolly's "fullness").

Interesting. I had never heard of his "member" being large. I presumed the song referred to his being tall, which he was. However, I WAS wondering why during the "The making of "You ain't Dolly" with Vince and Ashley, there was an "ahem" with a grin moment! lol Now I get it. Thank you, Lucas. I seriously need to catch up on my country music gossip.

I have not heard such an authentic sounding country voice like hers since some of the greats like Tammy or Loretta, and she even sounds somewhat like Jeanne Seeley! OK folks lets get off the fence and start requesting REAL sounding country music like this at your local radio stations. I'm tired of over computer edited pop music that passes for country now days!. Simpler, dancable tunes with great hook lines like this are where it's at!

I only like Blake in this song. But, yeah this girl is amazing. I agree I'm a honky tonk gal and "today's country," just sounds like shit. But, if you like Ashley, you should check out Lindi Ortega!! Lindi is absolutely amazing and you won't be disappointed. Girl sounds like a cross from Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton and her music is amazing!!:-)
