2009 Altima Steering lock fix Use Needle Nose Pliers to remove 2 screws
2009 Nissan Altima Steering lock fix. Altima wont start, key FOB light on, Steering wheel not locking.
+Kevin Hogg interesting. I"m not in Canada but i'm having this same issue and whilst googling i would swear i came across a thread that said that there was a recall on this in Canada. you should check up on that. FYI.
Hi Rick, Same symptoms...this fix did not work. I am hoping I did
properly. Removed Steering lock part, depressed inner "wedge" but at that
point nothing happened. When the ignition key was pressed it did not
activate the accessories....
Also, the "wedge" was not difficult to depress like you described....it
goes to a stop rather easily. Kept depressed for over 1 minute, nothing....
Any insight?
+Karole Pearce the wedge on mine went down easy with no resistance.. its when it was push all away down it still seemed not to make contact so i pushed it a little harder and thats when it seemed to make the contact... It could be it wont make contact keep trying or u might have buy the new part.
This is a permanent fix.. Been good 2 months so far.. The only thing I'm
concerned with is what happens if I take out the battery, disconnect the
battery, will it recognize then that the fuse is out and wont start? That
IDK and hopefully wont find out any time soon..
+John SantiagoWell, you have to get the car started first. It may take a while, but a combo of hammering the steering lock mechanism and pushing the start button while pushing in the brake will eventually get it done. Then with the engine running, open the hood and follow the instructions in the following link. Pull the steering lock fuse with the engine running and that will bypass the steering lock mechanism. After that, you're good. Even if you remove the battery later, the steering lock mechanism wouldn't be able to receive the signal to activate.//www.paulstravelpictures.com/2007-2012-Nissan-Altima-Fuse-Replacement-Guide/
+pjamese3 can you give specific instructions in how to remove the fuse, I tried hammering the the steering lock mechanism bit still it won't work. Thank you
+Rick GMine wouldn't start at all (without hammering the wheel lock assembly.) Yesterday, I got the car started and removed the steering lock fuse. So far, I haven't had any problem starting my car. The assembly isn''t getting any power so it won't activate, but I'm just going to leave it in place with the connector attached (just in case the car is looking for a resistor in the assembly.)The thing that really bugs me is that Nissan decided not to make this a safety recall (even though you could get stuck in the middle of nowhere), they're playing games with the extended warranty service (a known fault but they won't replace it under the warranty unless the car's exhibiting the INTERMITTENT problem) and charging around $1,000 for what should be a $50 part and maybe 20 minutes of work. And it can be fixed by applying a hammer and removing a fuse!
+pjamese3 -I left the power connecter to the steering lock plugged in.. That's what I read some where to do.. I didn't leave the steering lock mounted I move it to the side and tied it down..
+Rick G Good video! I'm having the same problem with my 2009 Altima. The 1st time was about a year ago. Just happened again yesterday. The last time I got it working by banging a hammer on the cover. I like the idea of pulling the fuse better.Question: If you pull the fuse to the steering lock assembly, do you have to leave it plugged in? It shouldn't be getting any power at that point. Could you just remove the assembly after pulling the fuse? Also, I bought the vehicle used and none of the original paperwork was with it. Can you just go to the dealership with the VIN and title to see when the vehicle was originally purchased?
RIDGID MS255SR Tool-less Bevel Control Lock - How To Tighten Bevel Lock
This video explains how to use the tool-less bevel control lock on the RIDGID MS255SR Dual Bevel Glide Sliding Miter Saw. www.toolselect.com Google https ...
This video is different than the one I saw and commented on earlier. I was
brought to this video from an internet search re the Bevel Lock issue.
Video links seem inconsistant. The solution to a Bevel Lock in this video
is detailed but saws I tested did NOT LOCK the Saw at Angles. It remained
loose. The lever jammed frequently. This problem is inconsistant from saw
to saw. Is any one able to post a tried and true solution for all
variations to this problem. If I find one I will post it.
Factory setting is very loose, this site says it is properly set but it is
not even close on the three Saws I tested. The Auto Set,' tooless setting
mechanism' does not work either. ps,Now the video is 1 minute 56 seconds
long. Still a useless video. There is a nut at rear of the saw connected to
the Bevel Lock Shaft that needs to be tightened for the Bevel Lock to work.
but. it doent work. Would be great if some one actually explained how to
get the Bevel Lock to work?
Today is Sunday. Tomorrow I will call Rigid for answers and post them if
they work.
Understanding Volkswagen Door Lock Modules - Part 2
In this video, I'll be covering all the mechanical operations of Volkswagen's door lock modules, specifically the driver door lock assembly, and how these devices ...
Great video, thanks! I have a problem with my left backdoor on my 2000
Passat estate. It wont open at all either from outside or inside. Unhooked
the wire to the outside doorhandle and made sure the lever inside returned
fully, didnt help. Managed to remove the doorpanel with door closed to
access the lockmodule but still cant open. Sentral lock is moving but want
ro return back to locked position. I can manually "unlock" it but still
won't open. It seems like something happend indide the module. Any
sergestions what to do?
+Niruki Niruki, here is a guy from England that I ran across awhile back. He's got a video of how to get a door open on a VW when you can't open it from the inside or outside. Hopefully, he can help you out. Here's a link to the video that may help https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy3KbKkAZZ0
+stuzman52 It still doesnt help with the elektric disconnnected. It seem like the locking module doesnt respond to any normal movement either from the ouside handle, inside handle og the electric central locking. Is there a trick to push/pull any place directly on locking module inside the door? If not I might need to cut the whole module in pieces with a angle grinder etc. If I do so will I then be able to get to the piece/parts that hold the door locked?
+Niruki Sounds like for whatever reason, the door is electrically remaining locked. Try disconnecting the negative side of the battery so electrically it can't remain locked. Then go through your procedures again and see what you come up with.
Job well done on all your investigation work, communicating your findings,
and to your videographer. By far the best video on this Door Lock i have
seen thus far. Thank you.
My locking rod wasnt moving, and the drivers side door wouldnt lock even
though all other doors would, and the alarm armed. So I tried googling the
issue but it wasnt until watching your video that any light was shone upon
it. If it wasn't for your video i dont know if i would have ever figured
out what the problem was. Thanks a million; wish all tutorials were this
detailed and thorough.
Originally, i had the "intermittent locking/unlocking" problem that was
addressed in a write-up by taligentx. It was a good write-up and i solved
the initial problem, but i overlooked the intricacy of reassembly thereby
causing a different problem. He made no mention of aligning the mechanical
parts that work together, unlike you. I should have paid closer attention,
so thank you and the camera lady for the lesson and video.
+Alex Always glad to hear from folks like yourself Alex where the videos helped out. Also glad to hear that you like the details and that it helped you out with your issue. And you're quite welcomed Alex! Take care...
I found out what that safe/unsafe switch does. In other countries,
apparently this is used to make it impossible to open the doors either from
the inside or outside. I used a different method to correct the faulty
switch that is on the mechanical part of the module. It looks like it
never worked on my car. I didn't bother to replace that switch. I just
installed one of those plunger switches cars used to use on my door,
disconnecting that switch and connecting it to my new switch. I bought the
new switch at an auto supply store, cut the wires to the old switch, and
wired it to the new switch. Works really well, and cost a lot less than a
new module.
+mat Gilliam Thanks mat for dropping by and sharing your experience with us. Glad to hear that it all worked out for you.

Fatal plane crash - DH4 Caribou with controls locked
Results Of A Poor (or no) Preflight: Two test pilots on board, and no one checked the controls free and clear before starting t/o roll. It hurts to watch this video, but ...
Rules I have learned from years of flying: 1) Always, always do a
pre-flight inspection and don't ever hurry doing it, and do it the exactly
same way every time. 2) First thing when you enter the cockpit and sit
down- wipe the controls, that is move the control stick up/down, rudder
right left/ailerons roll right and left to full extent of their control
movement. Look to see that the control surfaces move accordingly to the
stick movement. It'll save your life and lives of your passengers.
When an aircraft is parked up, metal locks are put on the outside of an
aircraft so the wind can't move the control surfaces and damage the
aircraft. As the controls surfaces are locked solid - this also prevents
the pilot controls from moving the controls too. Locks are sometimes
connected on the outside of the aircraft, so the pilot couldn't just 'undo
the lock' from the cockpit in this case They usually have red REMOVE BEFORE
FLIGHT tag on them I always count the tags as I remove them
I had a dream where two ladies were going to take us on a private yet for
some reason. They were very friendly and said, "Want us to show you how we
can fly?" and I said, "Yes!" They got in the airplanes and started flying.
But, one of the ladies in her airplane dove too high and flipped backwards
and the plane hit the ground. There was lots of dust. Then, everyone
watching just started bawling. We weren't close to the pilot, but it was a
weird dream. I cried when I woke up.
Actually this footage is VERY real. This was a test flight of this
particular aircraft... control locks were in place, and neither the pilot,
nor the co-pilot managed to check them during pre-flight, or check that the
controls were free and clear before initiating the takeoff roll. Not sure
why any idiot would think the footage is not real, it's been well
documented over the years.
That is shocking. May the air crew rest in piece. I note that it was a
turbo re-engined Caribou which probably has no relevance. But the aircraft
did seem to attempt to bank at at best at an optomistic angle. I served
with the DHC-4 in the RAAF and loved the plane, erlderly as it was and with
its ancient Pratt and Whitney radials. Nothing like the sound of a `Boo
taking off!
You obviously know little about airplanes. The flaps can be locked into
place. That's why pre-flight checks are done. This pilot, or pilots did not
check to see if the flaps were locks. (Flaps are what make the plane go up
and down- actually, it's more complicated than that, but I'm considering
who I'm talking to) That is why the plane was not controllable after
takeoff....
i said that because the plane crashed but did not immediatelly catch on
fire, instead we see the video skip at around 20 seconds, then someone goes
"i cannot believe it" and that's it. you hear no one calling an ambulance
or any help at all. so to answer your question yeah i do have a brain, and
pardon me for asking myself questions when i see an odd video.
The pilot did a preflight and the controls were not locked........ yet.
They found that if the gust controls were not completely opened they could
close when the controls were moved and that is what happened. Pilot remains
were found around the gust control lock so he knew what had happened but
didnt have time to fix it.
One time I was taking off in my small plane and had put an ice chest on the
front passenger seat. I also didn't check for free and clear. When I went
to rotate, I couldn't. I had plenty of runway (KRFD) and stopped the plane.
The tower asked me what the hell I was doing. I said, just a small problem.
I'll be going now.
Correct. The Caribou originally came from the factory with in-cockpit
control surface gust locks which also froze the throttle levers; you could
not throttle up if they were engaged. When the plane was converted to
turboprop, the lockout feature was defeated. This is the end result.
let me "educate you a little"... the elevator has a locking pin that locks
it in the full aft position for one reason or another... they didnt go
through the checklist or they would have removed the pin prior to
liftoff... thats why @QQROR84 said that
I agree. A modification like this requires amending the checklist, since
this is a unique feature to very few planes. The aircraft was also flying
under the EXPERIMENTAL category, N400NC. All it takes is one oversight, and
that's what happened here.
During the post-accident autopsy, a knob from the gust lock handle was
found embedded in the captain's right wrist. The TSB concluded that the
captain was attempting to operate the gust lock handle when the aircraft
hit the ground.
I am confused on the "preflight" comment. This flight seems like a typical
stall and the pilot pulled up on it like he was flying a fighter jet in the
movies. Forces of flight were violated and it sunk like a rock.
The very first prototype B-17 crashed the very same way.. From the same
cause... 1935.. clips on all the flaps for WIND while parked.. A famous
test pilot, his crew and company people, died just like here
This is how the first B-17 prototype crashed...Crew forgot to disingage the
elevator gust lock, and when they took off if went into a deep stall and
crashed, just like the DH4 did in this video.
You must be kidding. That is a HUGE aircraft that went straight into the
ground. They would not have been able to find body parts, let along SAVE
SOMEONE! - Use your brain. You have one correct?
First, the obvious. There would have been a much larger explosion. And the
guy most likely wouldn't be anywhere NEAR as calm as he was. And the guy
was like 25 feet away. lolyeahseemslegit
Issac. Are you a little child? 25 feet away?? Liquid fuel does not explode.
It ruptures out, ignites and burns as it flows and spreads. Do you actually
believe Hollywood exaggerations?
it seems the fins on the wings locked keeping it grasping for the same
uplift...hense it never leveled making it to a back flip way too close to
the ground. God bless the pilot
whoa, that was bad. It was a tragic loss. To have it recorded at the fatal
moment was a small miracle. The video was certainly helpful in analyzing
the cause of the crash.
hey listen up smartass, I never said it wasn't, that mate already answered
my questions and I know it's real. No need for you to interfere and start
swearing everywhere
reminds me of the Chicago White Sox player who flew his jet in the fence at
the end of runway for same reason...controls locked. In the 80s I
think..Munford?
You're just butt-hurt because someone (just about everyone) has more
self-control than you. You'd bounce around like a raped chimp. Stop being a
feeble.
