As an overall cyclist Big Tom surely has to be better than McEwen in that
he has the ability to win races such as Paris Roubaix, Flanders and even
gets on the podium in hilly enough races like Milan San Remo. However as a
pure sprinter McEwen(especially in his top form 2 or 3 years ago) is a
better sprinter. His acceleration is far greater than Boonen or others but
then again you don't see him do much other than stage wins. Also Boonen is
8 years younger than McEwen so he has a big future ahead!
We're discussing sprinting, not climbing abilities. As per lead-outs,
that's team tactics: just as Discovery worked hard for Armstrong to finish
in yellow, Milram (and F. Bortolo) works hard for Petacchi's stage wins
(BTW did not McEwen once benefit from Steegmans' lead-outs?). Also,
Petacchi doesn't bully or cut across other riders (see video), then doesn't
say he "can't be beat". Lastly, a lead-out makes for a safe sprint. McEwen
is awesome, but not "the best ever". Sean Kelly? Cipollini?
Brilliant video! I love how the Prodigy song is synched up with the action
once the beat kicks in. It made me sad that, as Robbie said--rightly, I
think--that this year's Tour wasn't geared more toward sprints, but here's
hoping Lotto support him some more next year instead of Cadel. He may not
need a train, but I think for morale's sake alone, it'd help. I'm hoping
Mark Cavendish can one day entertain us w/ sprints like Robbie has for so
long!
Petacchi and Boonen are great sprinters but I'd take Robbie any day.
Doesn't need a lead out train because he's crafty enough to win on his own
and his bike handling skills are amazing. Nothing better than seeing him
come rocketing out of nowhere in the final 200m to take a win.
I'm tired of people saying boonen is better than Robbie. Robbie is a
warrior and is clearly the most dominant sprinter in the sport. All you
need to see is stage 1 of last years tour to know what kind of a rider he
is.
Geiles Video, Robbie hat echt Dynamit in seinen Beinen. Wie der Typ kurz
vor Ziellinie explodiert aii caramba. Erik Zabel, Mario Cippolini, Robbie
McEwen...70Km/h auf grader Strecke...no problem.
Surely there are no pocket rocket haters!!The guy's a legend! He doesnt need
a train of 5 riders like the likes of petta or boonen.Stage 1 of the tour
07 proved what a legend he really is!

Bruichladdich - PC7 with Jim McEwan
Master Blender Jim McEwan gives us all the relevant details on history, production and profile of the Bruichladdich PC7 from the still house at the Islay distillery.
Absolute true story: I purchased my first bottle of Port Charlotte PC7, it
was the last one in the store, and the store threw away the display tin!!!
I emailed Bruichladdich if they had an extra tin laying around (I WAS
EXPECTING either no answer, or a "screw you!" response). They not only
wrote me back, within a week or so, the distillery shipped me a tin and
lid! GREATEST customer service story in my LIFE. They have a LIFETIME FAN
now. Thanks again!
it is official. Jim McEwan is a sexy rock and roll man of the malt. And a
bit of a mad scientist. I'm enthralled! Please please more Jim McEwan
Bruichladdich vids! There are so many expressions of his fine whisky and
I'm completely gobsmacked at his passion. Please tell him there is a lady
in the USA who is a HUGE fan!!!
Jim does an excellent job, shows his love of scotch...his love of
Islay...this is the kind of passion that SingleMaltTV should bring to these
videos. Thanks to him I'm going to have to go buy some Bruichladdich now to
see how it compares with my favorite Islay whisky todate - Laphroiag 10 yr.
Quarter Cask
Jim McEwan has got to be the most innovative distiller of all time. Always
something different always with great passion. What a straight shooter.
...No E150, NON-Chill filtered and 46%. This is the way whisky should be.
Thanks Jim, hopefully other distillers catch on and learn from the best.
I disagree, I think Jim represents only the business side evidenced by the
hard sell style.. He looks under pressure and merely doing what he
ridiculed in this piece; adding to the corporate destruction of an ancient
industry through intense marketing campaigns full of "bs". (his own words)
After seeing a couple of dozen industry professionals I must say that Jim
McEwan is the first to show respect for the spirit, by watering it gently.
It makes a big difference to taste and aroma. Yes, I'd like to see more of
Jim.
Jim, you are seriously great, but please stop making these PC malts for
airport shops and start selling them normally. The normal whisky lover
can't get a hold of these without dropping serious cash at auctions.
what a wonderful video of Jim, i love this guys passion for the industry.
This is my second all time favorite that i am doing a review on this week.
Cheers !
Angela McEwan red carpet interview at AFI FEST 2013
Actress, Angela McEwan attends AFI FEST 2013 for the premiere of his film, "Nebraska." Ms. McEwan discusses the process of being offered the role of Peg ...
Great interview, Angela! Such a treat to hear your stories from the
audition process. And it's such a great thing for the film that they
remembered you and that you came back for that second call, because your
performance was so nuanced and delicate. One of the loveliest turns in a
great movie. When Peg watches Woody go by in the truck, there's not a dry
eye in the house. Amazing how deeply you were able to touch our hearts in
just a few short screen moments. Thanks for sticking with your craft, and
for giving so much to your character. This was my first time seeing you,
but you can count me a fan. Best wishes for your future projects!
