In the case of the Burgess Shales the researchers made a unique work of collecting, sometimes putting back together samples collected nearly 100 years before. They also discovered the fact that each fossil was in fact a 3d fossil and taking very carefully the outer layers they were able to observe things nevery saw before. In regards to everyone that says australian aboriginals sustained the land for 60,000 years. They didn't sustain the way it was all that time ago. It's just that they lived on an isolated continent for that long that they came to live in equilibrium with the ecosystems there. It's been argued that Aboriginals were at least one of the causes for the extinction of the australian megafauna for instance. And it's well known that aboriginals often used fires to burn off large areas of grass lands.

Secondly you say Aboriginal people are "rebound" (I assume you mean renowned) for only taking what they need. This idea obviously comes from observations made by colonials in the last 200 years or so. Like I said, by that time the aboriginal people had lived on this isolated continent for thousands of years. Of course they would have developed an understanding of our country. It doesn't mean they didn't alter the country prior to colonisation. They had just come to live in equilibrium by then
